    • Sitting second straight
Soderstrom is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners.

Advice: Soderstrom appeared to have taken hold of a regular role at first base against right-handed pitching, but he's sitting Wednesday for the second straight game versus a righty (Logan Gilbert). J.D. Davis will receive another start at first base and bat sixth. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 3:10 pm

    • Alex Bregman (hand) expected to return on Friday
Alex Bregman (hand) is expected to return to the Astros’ lineup on Friday.

Advice: The 30-year-old third baseman was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup due to soreness in his left hand, but the expectation is that after an off-day on Thursday he’ll be ready to return. The same can’t be said for Kyle Tucker who missed his second straight game on Wednesday and still may not be ready to return on Friday. Rotoworld Wednesday, 1:33 pm

    • Idle against southpaw
Conforto is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Advice: The lefty-hitting Conforto will hit the bench for the day game after a night game while Arizona brings a lefty (Jordan Montgomery) to the hill. After returning from the injured list Monday, Conforto started in left field in both of the first two games of the series, going 0-for-8 with a walk and three strikeouts. • Astros shift José Urquidy to 60-day IL
Astros transferred RHP José Urquidy from the 15-day to the 60-day injured list.

Advice: Urquidy is undergoing elbow surgery today. The Astros haven’t confirmed that it will be Tommy John, but that is the expectation. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:56 am

    • Shifted to 60-day IL
The Astros transferred Urquidy (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Wednesday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: The transaction frees up a 40-man roster spot for right-hander Nick Hernandez. Urquidy has been on the shelf all season with a right forearm strain, and after suffering a setback during his rehab assignment in late May, he underwent season-ending surgery on his elbow Wednesday. The Astros haven't disclosed whether Urquidy underwent the second Tommy John surgery of his career or another procedure, making his availability for the start of the 2025 season uncertain at the moment. • Scratched with hand soreness
Bregman has been scratched from Wednesday's lineup due to lingering left hand soreness, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Bregman was hit on the hand by a pitch during Tuesday's win over the Cardinals. X-rays came back clean, but with the hand not feeling 100 percent the team will play it safe. Bregman is expected to be back in the lineup Friday versus the Angels after Thursday's scheduled off day. Jake Meyers will enter Wednesday's lineup in center field, with Mauricio Dubon shifting to third base to cover for Bregman. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:03 am

    • Alex Bregman scratched due to sore left hand
Alex Bregman was scratched from Wednesday’s lineup due to left hand soreness.

Advice: It turns out Bregman wasn’t ready to go after all. X-rays were negative on the hand after Bregman was hit by a pitch during Tuesday’s game. With Bregman out, the Astros have moved Mauricio Dubón from center to third and canceled Jake Meyers’ planned day off. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:58 am

    • Launches homer Tuesday
Naylor went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a second run scored in Tuesday's 8-5 win over the Royals.

Advice: Naylor was part of the Guardians' comeback push -- his fourth-inning homer cut the deficit to 5-3. After being one of the team's hottest hitters in April, the first baseman has hit .178 with a .719 OPS since the start of May. Naylor's power is still coming through with 16 homers, a .500 slugging percentage and a .271 ISO. He hasn't had a pronounced issue with strikeouts either, fanning at just a 16.2 percent rate while walking at a career-best 10.3 percent clip. Naylor's .308 batting average last year was likely unsustainable, but he's a better overall hitter than he's been over the last month. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:56 am
