    • First rehab start Sunday
Urquidy will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land on Sunday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: Urquidy is slated for four innings and/or 60-to-65 pitches in the outing. It's a fairly substantial workload considering the right-hander has been on the shelf with a forearm strain since mid-March. Urquidy would seemingly need at least one additional rehab start after that before returning to the Astros. Rotowire.com Today, 12:19 pm

    • Another impressive outing
Stone (3-1) picked up the win Wednesday against Miami, allowing one run on six hits and no walks over seven innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Outside of a solo homer to Bryan De La Cruz in the fourth inning, Stone was exceptional, yielding one run for a third consecutive start. He's lasted at least six innings in three straight outings, dragging his ERA down to 3.55 through 38.0 frames. With Bobby Miller (shoulder) nearing the start of a rehab assignment, Stone could only have a couple more go-arounds in the Dodgers' rotation, with a date at San Francisco on tap for Tuesday. • Starting rehab stint
Astros manager Joe Espada said Wednesday that Urquidy (forearm) is likely to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land this weekend, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw live batting practice Tuesday and has now been cleared to pitch in minor-league games. Urquidy was shut down with a forearm strain in mid-March and will likely require a handful of rehab starts before making his season debut for the Astros. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:41 pm

    • José Urquidy (forearm) ready for rehab assignment
José Urquidy (forearm) will begin a minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Sugar Land over the weekend.

Advice: Urquidy has been shelved since spring training due to inflammation in his forearm, so he’s going to need at least a couple of rehab starts before he’s an option to join the Astros’ rotation. If he’s able to avoid any setbacks though, a return before the end of May could be realistic. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:26 pm

    • Gavin Stone quiets Marlins to collect third win
Gavin Stone yielded one run over seven innings on Wednesday in a win over the Marlins.

Advice: Stone was excellent during Wednesday afternoon’s matinee at Dodger Stadium, limiting Miami’s floundering lineup to just a fourth-inning solo shot from Bryan De La Cruz over seven frames. He finished with four strikeouts and didn’t hand out a free pass. The 25-year-old former top pitching prospect has held his own this season in his first extended chance in the big leagues, compiling a respectable 3.55 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 27/13 K/BB ratio across 38 innings (seven starts). He’ll face the division-rival Giants on Tuesday his next time out. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:32 pm

    • Garrett Whitlock (oblique) facing hitters Friday
Garrett Whitlock (oblique) will face hitters on Friday in a live batting practice session.

Advice: Whitlock is expected to progress to a minor league rehab assignment next week, which puts him on track to rejoin Boston’s starting rotation mix at some point in mid-to-late May. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:17 pm

    • Set to face hitters
Whitlock (oblique) will throw live batting practice Friday, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

Advice: Assuming all goes well during his live BP session, Whitlock will move onto a rehab assignment next week, though it's unclear if he will require more than one start in the minors. The 27-year-old right-hander has been on the injured list since April 17 and just began his throwing program Saturday. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 2:15 pm

    • José Urquidy (forearm) faces hitters on Tuesday
José Urquidy (forearm) faced hitters on Tuesday in a live batting practice session.

Advice: A minor league rehab assignment seems to be on the near horizon for Urquidy, who has been on the shelf since spring training recovering from right forearm inflammation. The 29-year-old righty figures to need at least a couple rehab starts before returning to Houston’s starting rotation. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:12 pm

    • Alex Wood shuts down Rangers in no-decision
Alex Wood blanked the Rangers for six innings in a no-decision Monday.

Advice: Wood didn’t quite dominate in striking out three tonight, but he lowered his ERA from 6.32 to 5.30. He has a kind matchup against the Mariners in Seattle next time out, but he’s unlikely to be much of a factor in mixed leagues going forward. Rotoworld Monday, 11:31 pm
