Soderstrom went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader split with the Rangers.

Advice: Getting the start at first base in the nightcap and batting eighth in his MLB season debut, Soderstrom got hold of a cutter by Jack Leiter and drove it over the fence in left-center field in the fourth inning. Soderstrom's power is legit -- he has two 20-homer campaigns in the minors, and he'd clubbed seven long balls in 27 games for Triple-A Las Vegas prior to his promotion Wednesday -- but Oakland prefers Shea Langeliers' defense behind the plate, and the team's 1B/DH situation is crowded. Playing time could be hard for Soderstrom to come by, even if he does stick around on the big-league roster. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:33 am

    • Tyler Soderstrom slugs two-run homer vs. Rangers
Tyler Soderstrom went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer on Wednesday against the Rangers.

Advice: Soderstrom got the call to join Oakland for Wednesday’s doubleheader against Texas and made the most of his start. After knocking a base hit in the second inning, he took Jack Leiter deep for a two-run homer in the fourth. Soderstrom had an injury scare in the eighth after taking a pitch off his knee, but was able to stay in the game. He offers some power upside with catcher eligibility if he gets an extended look in the majors. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:17 pm

    • Athletics recall Tyler Soderstrom
Athletics recalled C Tyler Soderstrom from Triple-A Las Vegas.

Advice: Soderstrom has a .882 OPS in his 119 plate appearance at the Triple-A level this season. The 22-year-old backstop spent time with the A’s last season where he slashed .160/.232/.240 with three home runs and seven RBI in his 45 games played. Rotoworld Wednesday, 10:04 am

    • Joins major-league roster
The Athletics recalled Soderstrom from Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Advice: Soderstrom has slashed .245/.353/.529 with seven home runs over 27 games at Las Vegas this season. The 22-year-old managed just a .472 OPS and 31.2 percent strikeout rate with the Athletics in 2023. Soderstrom will give Oakland a third catcher, and he could also see some action at first base and/or designated hitter. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:37 am

    • Getting breather Wednesday
Perez is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Brewers.

Advice: Perez will receive a rare breather during the afternoon game. Freddy Fermin will fill in at catcher while Perez gets some rest. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:49 am

    • Slugs eighth homer
Perez went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run during Friday's 7-1 victory over the Rangers.

Advice: Perez's three-run shot off Jose Urena capped off a six-run seventh inning for the Royals and extended the backstop's hitting streak to four games. He has yet to show any signs of slowing down at the plate, slashing .351/.413/.605 with eight homers and 30 RBI across his first 126 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Saturday, 7:39 am

    • Salvador Perez hits three-run homer in victory
Salvador Perez hit a three-run homer in the Royals’ 7-1 victory over the Rangers on Friday.

Advice: Perez broke the game open with his three-run homer, as it came with the Royals leading 4-1 in an inning where Kansas City put up a six-spot. The 33-year-old catcher has already gone deep eight times in 2024, and the three runs driven in bump that total to 30. The suggestion that Perez was done being a strong fantasy option behind the plate may have been greatly exaggerated. Rotoworld Friday, 7:11 pm

    • Salvador Perez returns to lineup Tuesday
Salvador Perez (back) returned to the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Perez is back handling the catching duties on Tuesday night in Toronto after being scratched from Monday’s series opener due to back tightness. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward. Rotoworld Tuesday, 2:46 pm

    • Back in action Tuesday
Perez (back) is starting at first base and batting cleanup Tuesday against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Perez was scratched from Monday's starting nine due to back tightness, but he made an appearance off the bench and is back in the lineup a day later. The 33-year-old has enjoyed a strong start to 2024 with seven homers, 26 RBI and a .346/.404/.596 slash line through 29 games. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 1:36 pm
