• Not starting Thursday
Soderstrom is out of the lineup for Thursday's contest in Tampa Bay.

Advice: Soderstrom has now started just two of the last eight games for the Athletics and is hitless across his last six contests, so the 22-year-old would seem to be in danger of a demotion. Aledmys Diaz will get the nod at first base for Oakland on Thursday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:24 am

  • Solo homer in loss
O'Hoppe went 1-for-4 with a solo homer in Wednesday's loss to the Yankees.

Advice: O'Hoppe went down on strikes in each of his first two at-bats before launching a solo home run off Luis Gil in the bottom of the seventh to bring the Angels back within one run of New York. It was the young catcher's fourth long ball in May and the third in his last seven games. He's now hit safely in four of his last five contests but is still batting just .247 on the month with 15 RBI and nine runs scored. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:39 am
  • Logan O’Hoppe goes yard in loss to Yankees
Logan O’Hoppe went 1-for-4 with a solo homer against the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: O’Hoppe scored the only run of the game for the Angels on Wednesday, taking Luis Gil deep for a solo homer in the seventh inning. It was the sixth homer of the season for the 24-year-old backstop. He’s slashing .259/.313/.416 with 25 RBI across 180 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 9:14 pm
  • Records fourth steal
Contreras went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 10-6 win over the Cubs.

Advice: Contreras has been held hitless just five times over 26 games in May, going 31-for-104 (.298) for the month. The catcher is up to a .323/.394/.509 slash line with eight home runs, four steals, 43 RBI, 45 runs scored, 15 doubles and a triple in 55 contests, so this month has actually been a bit of a cooling off compared to how he started the season. He's been able to have an everyday role between catcher and designated hitter as one of the best overall batters in baseball this season. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 9:06 pm
  • Idle against southpaw
Naylor isn't in the Guardians' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rockies.

Advice: The Rockies will send lefty Ty Blach to the mound to begin Wednesday's contest, so the left-handed bat of Naylor will retreat to the bench. Austin Hedges will step in to play catcher while batting eighth. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 2:18 pm

  • Tyler Soderstrom starts at first base for A’s
Tyler Soderstrom is in Oakland’s lineup Wednesday for just the second time in six games.

Advice: It’s kind of surprising that the 22-year-old Soderstrom is still with the major league club, especially since the A’s still at least nominally view him as a catcher — 21 of his 27 Triple-A starts came at the position — and he’s just serving a backup first baseman right now. He’s hit .205/.296/.359 in 44 plate appearances since being recalled May 8. He started nine of the first 13 games after the callup, all of them at first base, but he’s even sitting against most righties lately. Rotoworld Wednesday, 12:29 pm

  • Records second steal Tuesday
Langeliers went 0-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base in a win over the Rays on Tuesday.

Advice: The power-hitting backstop showed off his wheels Tuesday, recording his second steal on three attempts this season following an eighth-inning, two-out walk. Langeliers' .210 average and .280 on-base percentage on the season have plenty of room for improvement, but he carries an exponentially better .277/.365/.631 slash line that's partly constituted of 11 extra-base hits (four doubles, two triples, five home runs) and has recorded 14 RBI across his last 19 games. • Fills stat sheet in win
Fry went 3-for-5 with a three-run home run, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Tuesday's 13-7 win over the Rockies.

Advice: Fry has a pair of three-hits games over his last nine contests, going 13-for-26 (.500) with four homers, three steals and 11 RBI in that span. The utility man is on another level lately, though he's been strong throughout the campaign with a .357/.492/.622 slash line, seven homers, 23 RBI, 26 runs scored and four steals over 128 plate appearances. He's started three straight games in left field, but that avenue into the lineup will close when Steven Kwan (hamstring) returns from the injured list. Fry could compete for playing time with Kyle Manzardo at designated hitter or Bo Naylor at catcher, given both of those players' struggles at the plate. Rotowire.com Tuesday, 9:59 pm

  • David Fry goes 3-for-3, hits three-run homer
David Fry went 3-for-3 and hit a three-run homer Tuesday against the Rockies.

Advice: Fry wasn’t expected to make the Guardians out of spring training and then wasn’t slated to play against righties once he did make the team, but all he’s done so far is hit .357/.492/.622 with seven homers and four steals in 128 plate appearances. The exit velocity numbers don’t back up anything close to this level of performance, but he’ll probably remain pretty solid and he has catcher eligibility. Rotoworld Tuesday, 9:49 pm
