  • Dean Kremer dominates Reds on Sunday
    Dean Kremer threw six shutout innings against the Reds on Sunday, allowing one hit while striking out six.

    Advice: It was a masterful performance. Kremer posted a 33 percent CSW and 37 percent whiff rate, highlighted by seven whiffs on 13 swings on his four-seam fastball. Kremer leaned heavily on the cutter on Sunday and danced around the zone, throwing less than 50 percent of pitches in the strike zone, but he got the Reds to chase. Kremer now has a 3.57 ERA on the year and can certainly be started next week against the Diamondbacks. Rotoworld 20 minutes ago
     
  • Ohtani has four hits, two HR in win over ATL
    Shohei Ohtani went 4-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI and two runs scored in a 5-1 win over the Braves on Sunday.

    Advice: This guy is pretty good. Ohtani got things started in the first inning with a 412-foot two-run shot off of Max Fried and then absolutely annihilated a 464-foot solo homer in the eighth inning that left the bat at 110.6 mph. Ohtani now has 10 home runs and 25 RBI on the season. There’s not much you can do if you don’t already have him on your team, but you can admire the talent. Rotoworld 27 minutes ago
     
  • Effective against Minnesota
    Criswell pitched 4.1 innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk while striking out five batters in Sunday's 9-2 win over the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.

    Advice: Criswell was once again effective Sunday, limiting the damage against him to just a solo home run by Ryan Jeffers in the bottom of the third inning. The right-hander allowed a double to Carlos Santana to open the bottom of the fifth inning and was ultimately removed from the game after getting Jose Miranda to pop out in the following at-bat, which prevented him from qualifying for the win. Criswell now owns a 1.74 ERA and 1.06 WHIP with 16 strikeouts over 20.2 innings in five appearances this season, including four starts.   • Labors through three
    Gore did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing six runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks over three innings against the Blue Jays. He struck out four.

    Advice: Gore needed 76 pitches to get through three innings with a second inning grand slam by Vladimir Guerrero serving as the biggest blow. The silver lining for fantasy managers is that Guerrero's blast did not hurt Gore's stat line as two errors in the inning, including a fielding error by Gore, rendered each of those runs unearned. It was the shortest outing of the season for Gore, who has yet to allow more than three earned runs in any contest. He'll carry a 3.44 ERA into his next start, tentatively scheduled to take place next weekend when the Nationals travel to Fenway Park to take on the Red Sox. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago
     
  • James Paxton stifles Braves in win on Sunday
    James Paxton allowed one run on five hits in 6 2/3 innings in a win over the Braves on Sunday.

    Advice: Paxton struck out three and walked two on the day with the only damage allowed being a solo home run to Marcell Ozuna in the seventh inning. He had just a 15 percent whiff rate and 17 percent CSW, so it certainly wasn’t a dominant performance, but he pounded the zone and kept the Braves off-balance. He has a solid 3.06 ERA on the season, but will be tough to trust against the Padres next weekend outside of the deepest formats. Rotoworld 48 minutes ago

  • Struggles mightily in return
    Manoah did not factor into the decision, allowing seven runs (six earned) on six hits and four walks over four innings Sunday against the Nationals. He struck out six.

    Advice: Manoah struggled with his command throughout, also hitting a batter to allow 11 baserunners and six earned runs including two homers during his first start of the season. It was not the type of start the Blue Jays were hoping to see out of the fourth-year starter, who compiled a 2.59 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 307 strikeouts over 308.1 innings during his first two seasons but struggled to a 5.87 ERA and 1.74 WHIP over 87.1 innings last season spanning 19 starts. The Blue Jays are hopeful Manoah can return to form this season, but fantasy managers will be wise to proceed with skepticism until the 26-year-old righty starts to show signs that he's working past his funk. His next turn would tentatively be slated for next weekend at home against the Twins, though this performance likely indicates his next start is far from assured. Rotowire.com 55 minutes ago
     
  • Daniel Lynch IV goes five scoreless against Rangers
    Daniel Lynch IV blanked the Rangers for five innings in his season debut for the Royals on Sunday.

    Advice: Not bad for a guy who had a 5.86 ERA in Triple-A. This was supposed to be a spot start for Lynch, since Alec March is coming off the IL later this week. We suspect that nothing has changed on that front, but at least Lynch ensured that he’ll get another chance next time the Royals need a starter. Rotoworld Today, 4:57 pm
     
  • Sixto Sánchez is inconsisent in start
    Sixto Sánchez allowed two runs on three hits in four innings in a no-decision against the A’s.

    Advice: Sánchez also walked three and struck out two. Somehow, he was the better of the two starters on the night. He had just a 17 percent whiff rate and his four-seam fastball velocity was down two mph from his previous outing. Sánchez has a 7.50 ERA and should not be on fantasy rosters, especially since he is likely losing his spot in the Marlins rotation. Rotoworld Today, 4:52 pm
     
  • Joe Boyle only lasts one inning in start
    Joe Boyle allowed four runs on one hit and three walks in one inning in a loss to the Marlins on Sunday.

    Advice: Boyle threw 35 pitches and just 16 of them were for strikes. He walked the first three batters to start the game, then gave up a fielder’s choice and a three-run homer. While he got out of the inning, he did not return for the second. So far on the season, Boyle has allowed 24 walks in just 27 2/3 innings to go along with a 7.16 ERA. He should not be rostered in fantasy leagues and is a perfect example of why we shouldn’t overreact to the stats from a few spring training performances. Rotoworld Today, 4:48 pm
