• Gets sixth straight start
Rivera will start at third base and bat eighth in Thursday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Rivera will be awarded a sixth consecutive start after he went 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored in Wednesday's 4-1 win. Each of his past four starts have come at third base, and he'll continue to vie with Vidal Brujan for playing time at the position until Jake Burger (oblique) is cleared to return from the 10-day injured list. Burger began a rehab assignment Wednesday, and it's possible that he'll be ready to join the Marlins at some point during their six-game West Coast road trip that begins Friday in Oakland. • Back on bench Thursday
Brujan is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Brujan had started in five of the previous six games, with the first three coming at third base and the last two coming at shortstop. He had been filling in for Tim Anderson (thumb) the past two days, but Anderson is on track to return to his usual spot at shortstop for the series finale with the Rockies. Brujan looks set to vie with Emmanuel Rivera for playing time at the hot corner moving forward, though both could be headed for reserve roles soon with Jake Burger (oblique) having already initiated a rehab assignment and poised to return from the 10-day injured list in the near future. • On base three times Wednesday
Riley went 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple, a run scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Mariners.

Advice: That's now five hits in the last four games for Riley, while Wednesday's three-bagger was his first extra-base hit since April 17. The third baseman is slashing a disappointing .235/.311/.387 through 29 contests with two homers and 16 RBI, but he still sports an 89th percentile barrel rate and 85th percentile hard-hit rate on the season, and there's little cause for worry about his slow first month. • Clubs third homer
Toro went 2-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Pirates.

Advice: Getting the start at second base and batting fifth, Toro launched a second-inning Quinn Priester sinker up in the zone off the top of the wall in center field. Toro has hit safely in six straight games, and he's making a case to be an everyday player for Oakland -- through 99 plate appearances, he's slashing .264/.323/.440 with three homers, 11 RBI and 11 runs. He's played at least three games at first base, second base and third base so far in 2024 in addition to spotting in at DH, and while Ryan Noda's demotion to Triple-A after Wednesday's game likely has more to do with J.D. Davis (thigh) being nearly ready to come off the IL, it does give Toro a little less competition for playing time. Rotowire.com Today, 6:05 am

  • Hot streak continues
Nevin went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Pirates.

Advice: The 26-year-old took Quinn Priester deep in the third inning, extending an impressive stretch that has seen Nevin record four straight multi-hit performances as part of a nine-game hitting streak. He's left the yard four times during his heater, accounting for all of his homers on the season, and since joining Oakland at the beginning of April he's slashed .325/.375/.500 in 88 plate appearances with 10 runs and 10 RBI. Nevin posted consistently solid numbers in the minors but never got much of an opportunity in Baltimore, and he stumbled with Detroit in 2023. If this is his last chance to establish himself as a big-league player, he seems to be making the most of it. Rotowire.com Today, 5:58 am

  • Notches fourth homer
Cabrera went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run during Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Orioles.

Advice: Cabrera tagged Corbin Burnes for a two-run shot in the fifth inning, plating Jose Trevino for the Yankees' only runs. The long ball was Cabrera's first since April 13. His two hits were his first of the series, entering Wednesday's contest 0-for-7 in the first two games of the four-game bill. Through 110 plate appearances, Cabrera is slashing .262/.300/.417 with 18 RBI and two stolen bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:58 pm

  • Clubs solo homer
Steer went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base during Wednesday's 6-2 loss to San Diego.

Advice: Steer advanced to a perfect 8-for-8 on steal attempts this season and belted his fourth home run of the campaign and his first since Apr. 6 off of Joe Musgrove in the first inning. He's cooled off since going on a tear to open the season and is batting 5-for-40 (.125) with four RBi and three runs scored during his last 11 games. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:37 pm

  • Three hits, steal in win
Castro went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 10-5 win over the White Sox.

Advice: Castro wound up a homer shy of a cycle Wednesday while recording his fifth multi-hit game during his current eight-game hitting streak. He's gone 16-for-35 (.457) over the course of the streak, boosting his slash line to .270/.339/.450 through 30 games this year. The 27-year-old Castro added two homers, 13 runs scored, 12 RBI and three stolen bases while serving as the Twins' primary third baseman in the absence of Royce Lewis (quadriceps). • Emmanuel Rivera scores twice as Marlins roll
Emmanuel Rivera went 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored as the Marlins rolled past the Rockies on Wednesday night in Miami.

Advice: Rivera singled off of Dakota Hudson with two outs in the second inning, but was left stranded at first. He was then hit by a pitch to start the fifth inning and scored the game’s first run on an RBI knock by Luis Arraez. The 27-year-old then singled in the sixth inning before drawing a walk and scoring on a two-run single by Dane Myers in the ninth. He’s now hitting .242/.324/.274 with zero homers, four RBI and a stolen base in 71 plate appearances to start the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:31 pm
