  • Avoiding surgery
    An MRI revealed Tuesday that Topa has a 25 percent tear in his left patellar tendon and will be immobilized for another week before trying to ramp up, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: After getting a second opinion on the injury, Topa decided to receive a PRP injection instead of undergoing surgery. He's currently on crutches and will be immobile for a week, but will attempt to ramp up afterward.     Justin Topa (knee) has been shut down from throwing for six weeks.

    Advice: Topa has been diagnosed with a partial tear in his left patellar tendon and is currently on crutches after receiving a PRP injection last week. The 33-year-old reliever opened the year on the injured list with left knee tendinitis and suffered a setback a couple weeks ago.
