      The Padres placed Bogaerts on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a fractured left shoulder.

      Advice: Bogaerts suffered the injury on an awkward dive Monday in Atlanta. According to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, the infielder doesn't appear to be dealing with any damage to his labrum and will avoid surgery, but he'll need significant down time for the shoulder to heal. Bogaerts intends to play again this season, perhaps by the latter part of the summer.       Padres placed INF Xander Bogaerts on the 10-day injured list with a fractured left shoulder.

      Advice: Ouch. Bogaerts sustained the injury while diving for a ball during the first game of Monday’s doubleheader. He’s expected to miss at least two months while recovering from the injuy. Luis Arraez is covering second base on Wednesday and will probably see additional action there while Bogaerts is shelved.     • Oneil Cruz sets Statcast record on 3 hits in win
      Oneil Cruz went 3-for-5 with one RBI in a win over the Giants on Tuesday.

      Advice: All three of Cruz’s hits were blasted with a 121.5 mph double, a 120.4 mph single, and a 116.3 mph double. He’s now the first player in the Statcast era to have three hits in one game over 115 mph, and his 121.5 mph double is the hardest-hit ball in MLB action this year, topping the 120.4 mph single he hit earlier in the game today. That’s quite a performance. Cruz is 19-for-64 (.297) in May with four home runs, 10 runs scored, and 11 RBI. He does have 18 strikeouts in 16 games, but his production has certainly started to tick up and if stolen bases follow, we could see a full breakout. Rotoworld Tuesday, 7:24 pm

      Elly De La Cruz went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI in a win over the Padres on Tuesday.

      Advice: The double accounted for the only RBI of the game, but it wasn’t particularly well hit at just 86 mph off the bat. It was just one of those nights where neither offense seemed to get anything going.       Advice: It's no surprise, of course, after Bogaerts suffered a left shoulder injury in the first game of Monday's doubleheader in Atlanta. Initial testing indicated that Bogaerts avoided a dislocation and might not need a stint on the injured list, but he and the Padres are still awaiting the results of other tests.
