      Adley Rutschman went 3-for-4 with a solo homer on Saturday, leading the Orioles to a 2-1 victory over the Reds.

      Advice: Rutschman spearheaded Baltimore’s offense in a rare low-scoring showdown at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park with his third three-hit effort of the season. He connected for a solo homer to left-center field -- his fifth round-tripper of the season -- off Reds southpaw Andrew Abbott in the fifth inning, which wound up being the difference in the contest.     • Ha-Seong Kim launches three-run homer in victory
      Ha-Seong Kim launched a three-run homer in the seventh inning on Saturday night, helping to power the Padres to a lopsided victory over the Diamondbacks.

      Advice: Kim had been hitless in three at-bats entering the seventh inning, but he was able to salvage his night by crushing a 382-foot (97.2 mph EV) three-run blast off of Bryce Jarvis. He also drove in a run with a ground ball in the ninth inning.       Rutschman went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 2-1 win over the Reds.

      Advice: Rutschman connected against left-hander Andrew Abbott in the fifth inning for his fifth homer of 2024, and it proved to be the winning run. With extra-base hits in each of his last three games, Rutschman is up to a .321/.361/.470 line through 32 games this season.       Schmidt (3-1) picked up the win Saturday over the Tigers, giving up three runs on four hits over five innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter.

      Advice: The right-hander tied his season high in strikeouts while generating 33 called or swinging strikes among his 91 pitches. Schmidt has been remarkably consistent to begin the season, allowing between one and three runs in every start and completing five innings in six of seven outings, although he has yet to last a full six frames.       Advice: A three-run shot by Anthony Rizzo in the third inning accounted for most of the damage off Mize, but the right-hander put plenty of traffic on the basepaths. It was the first time this season he'd allowed more than three runs in a start, and Mize will take a 3.98 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 24:7 K:BB through 31.2 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Astros.       Christopher Morel went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk on Saturday against the Brewers.

      Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Morel took Tobias Myers deep for a two-run homer in the third to extend the Cubs lead. Morel can certainly hit homers in bunches, as he’s now gone yard in three straight games and four of his last six. The 24-year-old third baseman is slashing .213/.292/.426 with seven homers, 20 runs scored, 20 RBI, and three steals across 137 plate appearances. Despite the low batting average, Morel has significantly cut down his strikeout rate so far this season, a good sign that we can see his numbers improve as we get into the summer.       Casey Mize gave up five runs over 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts in a loss to the Yankees on Saturday.

      Advice: Mize allowed nine hits while issuing a walk. He allowed a three-run homer to Anthony Rizzo, but he dealt with traffic throughout most of the start.     • Clarke Schmidt fans seven over five vs. Tigers
      Clarke Schmidt allowed three runs while striking out seven over five innings to get a win Saturday over the Tigers.

      Advice: Schmidt allowed a leadoff homer to Riley Greene, and then the right-hander allowed a pair of runs in the fourth. In between — and an inning after — the right-hander was solid while giving up four hits and not issuing a walk. The overall result is just so-so, but Schmidt looked better than the line suggests.
