    • Launches second homer
Arcia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 6-2 win over the Guardians.

Advice: The shortstop crushed a Pedro Avila two-seamer over the fence in left-center field, giving Atlanta its last offense of the night in the eighth inning. Arcia has both his homers on the year in the last nine games, and he's slashing .311/.340/.478 through 97 plate appearances with nine RBI and 12 runs as he proves his 2023 resurgence was no fluke. • Another strong outing
Sale (3-1) picked up the win Friday, allowing one run on two hits and a walk over seven innings in a 6-2 victory over the Guardians. He struck out six.

Advice: The veteran lefty has been healthy and dominant to kick off 2024, and he completely shut down the Cleveland offense after serving up a leadoff homer to Steven Kwan. Sale has worked seven-plus innings in three straight starts for the first time since June 2018, and he's allowed three runs or less in four of his five outings so far for Atlanta. Sale will take a 3.69 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB through 31.2 innings into his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road next week in Seattle. Rotowire.com Today, 7:39 am

    • Makes debut with White Sox
Pham went 2-for-5 with a run scored Friday against the Rays.

Advice: Pham made his debut with the White Sox on Friday and hit second with righty Zach Eflin on the mound. Chicago has used a rotation in its outfield to begin the season, though Pham should play nearly every day in center field while providing well-rounded production at the dish. • Remains DH
India started at designated hitter and went 2-for-4 in Friday's 2-1 loss to Texas.

Advice: India's been back two games following a bout with an illness and has served as the designated hitter while batting sixth in both. Perhaps using him as a DH is way to acclimate him to playing again after a a five-day absence. The batting order placement, however, represents a change. India had been the primary leadoff hitter against lefties and righties prior to his illness. Rotowire.com Today, 6:30 am
    • Chris Sale shuts down Guardians in notching win
Chris Sale held the Guardians to one run and two hits in seven innings Friday in the Braves’ 6-2 victory.

Advice: Sale gave up a leadoff homer to Steven Kwan in the first and pretty much nothing else. The other hit was a single, and he walked just one. He’s 3-1 with a 3.69 ERA in five starts, all of which have come on at least five days’ rest. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 pm

    • Padres activate Manny Machado from paternity list
Padres activated INF Manny Machado from the paternity list.

Advice: Machado was away from the club over the first half of the week as he welcomed his first child — a healthy baby boy — into the world. The proud papa will start at third base for the first time all season and will bat cleanup against Aaron Nola and the Phillies on Friday evening in San Diego. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:18 pm

    • Starting at third base Friday
Machado (personal) was added to the active roster and is starting at third base for Friday's game against the Phillies, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Advice: Machado was placed on the paternity list Monday and ended up missing the Padres' last four games. What's notable about Friday's game is that Machado is starting at third base for the first time since getting surgery on his right elbow in October, while Graham Pauley serves as the designated hitter. Machado's return is a welcome one with rookie Jackson Merrill missing his second straight game due to a lingering groin issue. Machado is slashing .260/.324/.417 with four home runs and 12 RBI over 105 plate appearances to start the season. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:45 pm

    • Max Kepler sits against left-hander Friday night
Max Kepler is not in the Twins’ starting lineup for Friday night’s ballgame against the Angels.

Advice: It’s the second straight game that Kepler has sat against a left-hander — this time Patrick Sandoval. While Kepler didn’t show massive platoon splits during the 2023 campaign, it’s something to at least keep an eye on for fantasy managers. Manuel Margot will start in his place in right field and bat third on Friday evening in Los Angeles. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:39 pm
    • Tommy Pham batting second in White Sox’ debut
Tommy Pham will start in center field and bat second in his White Sox’ debut against the Rays on Friday night.

Advice: The 36-year-old outfielder played in four games during his brief stay at Triple- Charlotte, going 5-for-17 with a double. The White Sox are hopeful that he’ll be able to inject some life into an offense that has been among the league’s worst through the first month of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:58 pm
