    • Flaherty strikes out nine against Jays Thursday
Jack Flaherty allowed three runs and struck out nine in 6 1/3 innings and took the loss against the Blue Jays on Thursday.

Advice: The runs against Flaherty came on a solo home run by Isiah Kiner-Falefa in the third and a two-run home run by Daulton Varsho in the seventh. He has struck out at least nine batters in four of his 10 starts this season. Eight of those starts have been quality starts, but he’s only won one game due to a lack of support from the Tigers’ offense and bullpen. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Pirates at home next week. Rotoworld Today, 6:22 pm

    • Earns fifth win
Bello (5-2) allowed three runs on four hits and four walks while striking out six over six innings to earn the win over the Rays on Wednesday.

Advice: Bello completed six innings for the second time in eight outings this season, and he earned his second quality start in the process. The Rays scored three times in the second inning, but the Red Sox offense rallied for eight runs over the fifth and sixth frames to give Bello plenty of support. The right-hander is now at a 4.04 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 37:13 K:BB through 42.1 innings. Walks typically haven't been an outsized issue for Bello, so there's not much reason for concern that he was a little wild Wednesday. He's projected to make his next start on the road versus the Orioles. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:17 pm

    • Swipes 12th bag Wednesday
Garcia went 2-for-5 with two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Tigers.

Advice: The 24-year-old put together his fourth multi-hit performance in the last five contests as he extended his hitting streak to 10 games. Garcia is batting .364 (16-for-44) over that stretch, boosting his slash line on the season to .266/.311/.429 with five homers, 12 steals, 30 runs and 32 RBI. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:47 pm

    • Brayan Bello tosses quality start, wins
Brayan Bello allowed three earned runs and four hits in a win over the Rays on Wednesday. He walked four and struck out six.

Advice: Bello keeps putting up these good but not great starts. The win and QS are nice, but there’s this next level Bello is still trying to reach. If he gets there, it will be on the heels of his improving slider. He showed a willingness to throw it back-foot to some of the Rays’ left-handed batters, but they only chased one out of the four he threw there. He’ll take a 4.04 ERA into his next start on Tuesday in Baltimore. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:41 pm

    • Fans career-high 12 in win
Ragans (4-3) picked up the win in Wednesday's 8-3 victory over the Tigers, allowing one hit and three walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out 12.

Advice: A clash with fellow star southpaw Tarik Skubal brought out the best in Ragans, who fanned a career-high 12 batters and generated a whopping 35 called or swinging strikes among his 100 pitches. The 26-year-old has reeled off 13 straight shutout innings over his last two starts, and he'll take a 3.34 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 76:21 K:BB through 62 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Minnesota. • Jeimer Candelario goes deep in loss to Padres
Jeimer Candelario slugged his fifth home run of the season on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to power the Reds past the Padres.

Advice: Candelario got the Reds on the board in the home half of the first inning with a 387-foot (104.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Michael King. He also smacked a two-out single in the sixth inning and scored on a two-run double by Tyler Stephenson. He finished the night 2-for-4 and is now hitting .223/.289/.401 with five long balls and 18 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:54 pm

    • Cole Ragans strikes out 12 in win over Tigers
Cole Ragans recorded 12 strikeouts over six scoreless innings on Wednesday in a win over the Tigers.

Advice: Ragans held up his end of the bargain in a highly-anticipated matchup against Tigers ace Tarik Skubal, limiting Detroit’s offense to just one hit and three walks over six shutout frames. The 26-year-old emerging ace generated 15 swinging strikes and a near-elite 35 percent CSW, finishing with a season-high 12 punchouts. He’ll carry a solid 3.34 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 76/21 K/BB ratio across 62 innings (11 starts) into a road tilt on Tuesday against the division-rival Twins. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:38 pm

    • Resting for Wednesday's contest
Herrera is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Herrera caught three innings earlier in the day after the Cardinals resumed Tuesday's suspended game in the bottom of the sixth and emerged with a 3-1 victory, so he'll just be getting some rest in Wednesday's regularly scheduled game. Pedro Pages will get the starting nod behind the dish. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:24 am

    • Bullpen session pushed to Thursday
Olson (hip) is slated to throw a bullpen session Thursday and is on track to make his scheduled start this weekend against the Blue Jays, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Advice: The Tigers initially said Olson would throw off a mound Wednesday, but he'll end up having his bullpen session pushed back a day. Olson exited his start in the third inning Monday against the Royals after being struck on the right hip by a comebacker. Detroit fully expects the righty to be ready for his start this weekend, but he'll need to get through Thursday's mound session before he's locked in for his next turn through the rotation.
