    • David Bednar works perfect frame for 16th save
David Bednar hurled a perfect ninth inning on Wednesday against the Reds to record his 16th save of the season.

Advice: Bednar got the call to protect a one-run lead in the ninth inning and needed just 11 pitches (eight strikes) to set down the heart of Cincinnati’s lineup. He got Elly De La Cruz to pop up and Spencer Steer to fly out before coaxing a game-ending fly out from Jake Fraley to slam the door. The 29-year-old righty has recorded saves on back-to-back days against the Reds after suffering a blown save last Friday against the Rockies in his previous appearance. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago
    • Willi Castro plates three in victory over Rays
Willi Castro doubled twice and finished with three RBI on Tuesday, leading the Twins to a 7-6 victory over the Rays.

Advice: Castro put Minnesota ahead briefly in a topsy-turvy marathon at Target Field with a bases-clearing double in the fourth inning off Rays starter Aaron Civale. He also recorded another double and walked in this one, reaching base safely in three of his five plate appearances out of the leadoff spot. The 27-year-old has been locked-in at the dish over the last few days, hitting .379 (11-for-29) with one homer and one steal over his last seven games. Rotoworld Today, 3:20 am

    • Closes out Angels
Megill retired the only batter he faced to earn the save in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Angels.

Advice: The Brewers led 6-0 going into the ninth inning, but both Elieser Hernandez and Joel Payamps struggled. That led to Megill entering the game with runners on first and second, and he got Taylor Ward to fly out to end the Angels' rally. Megill has a save in six straight outings and he's converted his last eight chances. He's now 14-for-15 in save opportunities on the year with a 2.11 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB over 21.1 innings, functioning as the Brewers' primary closer while Devin Williams (back) is out. • Trevor Megill barely avoids game-tying homer
Trevor Megill barely retired the only batter he faced for his 14th save Tuesday against the Angels.

Advice: The Brewers led this one 6-0 going into the bottom of the ninth, but both Elieser Hernández and Joel Payamps struggled to put the game away. Megill came in with the tying run at the plate and gave up a long flyball to Taylor Ward that Sal Frelick made a jumping catch on at the wall. Statcast said it would have been a homer in zero of MLB’s 30 stadiums, but it did look like it would have gotten over the wall in Angel Stadium if Frelick hadn’t gotten in the way. • X-rays negative on Pete Fairbanks’ right thumb
X-rays were negative on Pete Fairbanks’ right thumb after he was hit by a comebacker Tuesday.

Advice: Fairbanks is day-to-day. If he can’t close Wednesday, Jason Adam would be the favorite to get the nod in his place. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:23 pm
    • Battling bruised thumb
Fairbanks was removed from Tuesday's game against the Twins after getting hit in the right hand by a comebacker, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Fairbanks attempted to field a 103-mph grounder off the bat of Carlos Correa with his bare hand during the ninth inning of Tuesday's contest. The reliever threw multiple warmup pitches in an effort to remain in the game, but the Rays' trainers elected to pull him early. Per Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun, the main concern was with Fairbanks' thumb, but his X-rays came back negative after the game, and he appears to only be dealing with a bruise. It's likely the Rays stay away from using the 30-year-old righty out of the bullpen for the next few days, but a trip to the injured list shouldn't be necessary. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:05 pm
    • Pete Fairbanks exits after comebacker hits hand
Pete Fairbanks left Tuesday’s game in the ninth inning after taking a comebacker off his hand.

Advice: Fairbanks tried some warmup pitches afterwards, but the decision was made to remove him. Hopefully, this will just be a day-to-day injury. Phil Maton replaced him in a tie game. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:48 pm
    • Kyle Tucker (shin) still not back to baseball activity
Kyle Tucker (shin) still hasn’t resumed baseball activities.

Advice: Astros manager Joe Espada said Tuesday that there was optimism Tucker would be able to resume some baseball activities by this point, but that hasn’t happened. The 27-year-old fantasy superstar has been out since early June due to a right shin contusion. Rotoworld Yesterday, 4:19 pm

    • Yordan Alvarez out Tuesday due to family matter
Yordan Alvarez is not in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the White Sox due to a family matter.

Advice: The positive news here for fantasy managers is that Astros manager Joe Espada told reporters Alvarez could return as early as Wednesday. The 26-year-old slugger, who boasts a stellar .873 OPS with 14 homers and a career-high three steals this season through 71 games, is getting his first off day since May 18.
