    • Lifts homer Monday
Santander went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored in Monday's 7-2 win over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Santander has hit safely in nine of his last 11 games, going 12-for-41 (.293) with four homers and eight RBI in that span. He continues to dig himself out of a rough start to 2024, though he's still at a .223/.301/.450 slash line over 54 contests. Santander has added 11 homers, 33 RBI, 31 runs scored, 11 doubles and a triple while seeing steady playing time in right field. Rotowire.com Today, 9:54 am

    • Homers in back-to-back games
Burleson went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Astros.

Advice: This was Burleson's second straight game with a homer after he went 12 contests without one. The 25-year-old is up to seven homers through 51 contests in 2024, one long ball shy of matching his total from 107 games last year. He's added a reliable .271/.299/.429 slash line with 21 RBI, 16 runs scored and two stolen bases over 177 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:41 pm

    • Strikes out eight in no-decision
Gibson did not factor into the decision in Monday's loss to the Astros, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks with eight strikeouts over 5.2 innings.

Advice: Gibson allowed a two-run home run to Yordan Alvarez in the third inning and was pulled with a 4-3 lead in the sixth after allowing a run and loading the bases. Andrew Kittredge was able to get out of the jam, but the Astros later rallied for four runs in the eighth. Despite faltering late, Gibson has now pitched into the sixth inning in 10 of his 12 starts this season. In those 12 games, Gibson has posted a 3.69 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 60:28 K:BB. He tentatively lines up for a home matchup against the Rockies on Saturday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:59 pm

    • Gibson strikes out eight in no-decision Monday
Kyle Gibson allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings and got a no-decision against the Astros on Monday.

Advice: Gibson gave up five hits, walked three and struck out eight. He left the game with a 4-2 lead that the Cardinals bullpen couldn’t hold. Gibson had won two of his last three starts. The eight strikeouts were one away from matching his season-high. His ERA is now 3.69 on the season. The 36-year-old right-hander is set to face the Rockies at home this weekend.

    • Santander blasts 11th home run Monday
Anthony Santander went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and a two-run home run against the Blue Jays on Monday.

Advice: The home run was Santander’s 11th of the season. His ISO is up to .228, which would be a career-high not including the shortened 2020 season. Santander is hitting just .228, but his .227 BABIP is well below his career .269 BABIP. His strikeout percentage is 18 percent, which is below his career 20 percent strikeout percentage. Santander’s power is still there and he’s just been unlucky with his average so far.

    • Rejoins starting nine
Donovan (neck) will start in left field and bat sixth in Monday's game against the Astros.

Advice: Donovan is back in action Monday after a stiff neck kept him out of the entirety of the Cardinals' three-game series with the Phillies over the weekend. The 27-year-old had been serving as the Cardinals' leadoff man against right-handed pitching prior to suffering the neck injury, but Donovan may have lost that role to Masyn Winn. The second-year shortstop will bat atop the order in the series opener in Houston while Donovan drops to sixth against Astros righty Justin Verlander. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:10 pm

    • Brendan Donovan returns to Cards’ lineup on Monday
Brendan Donovan (neck) returned to the Cardinals’ starting lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Astros.

Advice: Donovan missed the club’s entire weekend series against the Phillies due to stiffness in his neck. He’ll start in left field and bat sixth for the Cardinals against Astros’ right-hander Justin Verlander on Monday evening in Houston. He returns to a .245/.326/.382 slash line with four homers and 25 RBI through his first 233 plate appearances on the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:52 pm

    • Rebounds against A's
Morton didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Oakland, allowing one hit and five walks with six strikeouts across six scoreless innings.

Advice: During his last start, Morton was hammered for 12 hits and eight runs by the Nationals. He did a complete 180 on Sunday, yielding one hit and delivering his first scoreless start since April 27. However, it wasn't a perfect outing, as Morton tied his season high in walks and hit the strike zone on just 58 of his 97 pitches. Over 62.2 innings, Morton owns a 3.88 ERA with a 65:28 K:BB, and he's scheduled for a rematch with the Nationals in Washington on Saturday. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:35 pm

    • Snaps slump with homer
Burleson went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies.

Advice: Burleson entered Sunday 0-for-17 over his last four games. He ended the drought -- his longest of the season -- with a third-inning blast to put the Cardinals ahead 4-2. Burleson has been forced into a larger role with the Cardinals lacking several starters, including Lars Nootbaar (oblique), who is expected to be out for nearly all of June. Burleson is slashing .273/.302/.418 with six homers, 20 RBI, 15 runs scored and two stolen bases over 50 contests and should have a chance to continue playing on a near-everyday basis for the foreseeable future.
