    • Gavin Lux has two hits, scores run in loss
Gavin Lux went 2-for-3 with a run scored in a loss to the Rockies on Friday.

Advice: Lux scored the only run of the game for the Dodgers when Mookie Betts hit into a double play. The 26-year-old second baseman has had a few fleeting moments, but it’s been hard to justify him as a fantasy option with a slash of .213/.267/.293. Rotoworld 26 minutes ago

    • Better vs. Orioles
Civale didn't factor into the decision Friday against Baltimore, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Civale was sharp Friday, blanking the Orioles for five innings before he was ultimately charged with a lone run in the sixth. The 28-year-old Civale has been pitching better of late, allowing just three runs over 10.1 innings in his last two starts after struggling to an 8.48 ERA in his previous six outings. Overall, he's 2-4 on the year with a 5.37 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 60:18 K:BB across 62 innings. Civale's currently lined up for a rematch with Baltimore at home in his next start. • Returns to form in win
Lopez (5-5) earned the win in Friday's 6-1 victory over Houston, allowing one run on six hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out nine.

Advice: Lopez appeared to be in the form that led him to a seventh place finish in the 2023 AL Cy Young race. The Minnesota right-hander generated an impressive 17 whiffs en route to his six punchouts while lowering his season ERA to 4.84 in 67 innings. The lone blemish on his evening was the 348-foot solo shot Alex Bregman hit into Houston's Crawford Boxes in the fourth inning. Lopez faces a difficult test in his next start -- lining up to face a formidable Yankees lineup in New York next week. Rotowire.com Today, 8:36 pm

    • Aaron Civale allows one run in no-decision
Aaron Civale pitched 5 ⅓ innings on Friday against the Orioles and allowed one earned run. He struck out three and walked one.

Advice: Civale has simplified his approach of late. This was his seventh consecutive start throwing his cutter at least 30% of the time and the third time in four starts where he’s thrown it 40% of the time. The final results were solid here against one of the best offenses in baseball, but Civale induced just six swings and misses while the Orioles hit 10 balls hard. He remains a risky streamer until he can figure out his secondary pitches. Rotoworld Today, 7:25 pm

    • Set for surgery Tuesday
Lee (shoulder) will undergo surgery Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Advice: The procedure will address the torn labrum in Lee's left shoulder, which he sustained May 12 against the Reds. Before the injury, Lee was slashing .262/.310/.331 with two home runs and eight RBI over 145 plate appearances. He should be ready to go for the start of the 2025 season. Rotowire.com Today, 4:27 pm

    • Ian Happ hits rare opposite-field homer in loss
Ian Happ had a two-run homer and a bases-loaded walk Friday to supply three of the Cubs’ four runs against the Reds.

Advice: Happ’s 364-foot homer, hit as a left-hander to the most generous part of Wrigley in left-center, was his first to the opposite field since 2022. He has four homers in six games after totaling just two in 47 games to start the year. Rotoworld Today, 2:40 pm

    • Lars Nootbaar (oblique) to miss several weeks
Cardinals’ manager Oli Marmol told reporters on Friday that Lars Nootbaar is dealing with a moderate oblique strain and is expected to miss several weeks.

Advice: It won’t be a minimum stint on the injured list for the 26-year-old outfielder this time around. It sounds like he’s looking at an extended absence and will then require a minor league rehab assignment before he’s able to return to the Cardinals’ outfield. Look for Alec Burleson to see increased action in Nootbaar’s absence. Rotoworld Today, 1:40 pm

    • Facing long-term absence
Manager Oli Marmol said Friday that Nootbar (oblique) is expected to miss several weeks, John Denton of MLB.com

Advice: On top of what seems to be a multi-week absence, Nootbar will need at least a week-long rehab assignment in the minors, meaning the 26-year-old may miss the entirety of June. While he's sidelined, Alec Burleson should serve as St. Louis' everyday right fielder, while Matt Carpenter should see the brunt of the DH work. Rotowire.com Today, 1:29 pm

    • Cardinals placed OF Lars Nootbaar on 10-day IL
Cardinals placed OF Lars Nootbaar on the 10-day IL with an oblique strain.

Advice: The move is retroactive to May 30th. Nootbaar felt something in his side after taking a swing and was removed from Wednesday’s game. Now he lands on the injured list and will be sidelined for at least 10 days. Alec Burleson and Dylan Carlson will see increased playing time in the outfield in Nootbaar’s stead.
