    • Padres closing in on deal to acquire Luis Arraez
      Jeff Passan of ESPN reports that the Padres are finalizing a deal to acquire second baseman Luis Arraez from the Marlins.

      Advice: Passan notes that the Marlins will receive a package of three prospects and a relief pitcher in return for the two-time defending batting champion. The Padres already have a strong combo up the middle with Ha-Seong Kim and Xander Bogaerts, so its likely that the plan is to play Arraez at either first base or third base.       McLain (shoulder) is about a week away from a follow-up appointment that will give the Reds a better idea on his return timetable, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

      Advice: If all goes well with his exam, McLain could start working out at the Reds' spring training facility in Arizona. He doesn't have an official return date yet.     • Albies picks up two more hits, RBI in loss to M’s
      Ozzie Albies went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a loss Tuesday to the Mariners.

      Advice: Albies has driven in runs in both games against Seattle thus far. The switch-hitting infielder got Atlanta on the board in the eighth with a single to score Jarred Kelenic, and Albies is now up to 18 RBI on the season.
