    X-rays came back negative on Yandy Diaz’s left hand.

    Advice: It’s an extremely positive development after Diaz was drilled on the left hand by a 99.3 mph fastball from White Sox closer Michael Kopech during Friday’s series opener. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. He’ll likely require a couple days off to rest and recover, at least until the swelling subsides, but he’s not facing an extended absence.   • Jeimer Candelario goes 0-for-4 in defeat
    Jeimer Candelario finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts against the Rangers on Friday.

    Advice: Candelario would have been one to avoid in fantasy drafts this year if only he had signed with almost any other team. With the Reds, though, there was reason to think he’d maintain ample mixed-league value. Instead, his exit velocity numbers are way down and his strikeout rate is way up, making this a truly miserable April for the 30-year-old. It doesn’t seem likely that he’ll remain this bad, but he’s fortunate that the Noelvi Marte suspension and Matt McLain injury have left his playing time unchallenged.   • Carlos Santana homers as Twins top Angels
    Carlos Santana homered and drove in two runs in a 5-3 win for the Twins over the Angels on Friday.

    Advice: Santana opened the scoring with a solo homer off Patrick Sandoval in the second inning. The veteran picked up another RBI with a single in the sixth to extend Minnesota’s lead to 4-0. Santana was due for a game like this, as even with the pair of hits and homer, he’s slashing an anemic .165/.250/.266 over the first month of the season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:43 pm

    Bohm went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's win over San Diego.

    Advice: Bohm doubled and scored in the first inning and later added an RBI single in the fourth. He has multiple hits in five of his last six games, going 15-for-26 (.577) with seven doubles in the process.     Kevin Newman hit a solo homer in a loss to the Mariners on Friday.

    Advice: Newman was responsible for the only run for the Diamondbacks with a solo shot in the sixth inning. The 30-year-old is still hitting a lackluster .186/.205/.372, and there just aren’t enough nights like this one to consider him as a viable fantasy option. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:09 pm

  • Alex Burleson hits first homer in Cardinals’ win
    Alec Burleson’s first homer of the year was a three-run shot off José Buttó in the Cardinals’ 4-2 win over the Mets on Friday.

    Advice: The Cardinals could have sent down Burleson instead of Jordan Walker this week, and they still might later once they get Matt Carpenter back. It’d be better, though, if Burleson could start to produce and make himself a candidate to start regularly against righties in left field.     Advice: Diaz had to leave Friday's game after getting hit in the hand by a pitch during the eighth inning, but it seems he escaped the incident without suffering any significant damage.   • Michael Busch goes 3-for-4 in Cubs’ victory
    Michael Busch went 3-for-4 with a double and a sac fly against the Red Sox on Friday.

    Advice: Busch didn’t hit the ball very well tonight, but he hit it to all of the right spots. His double, which barely qualified as a hard-hit ball at 95.1 mph, would have been an out if not for the Green Monster. One of his other hits was a dribbler down the third base line that just would not go foul. Busch will take it; he came into this one 0-for-15 with nine strikeouts in his previous four games.     Diaz was removed from Friday's game against the White Sox after getting hit by a pitch, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

    Advice: Diaz took a 99-mph fastball off his hand during the eighth inning of Friday's contest and was immediately replaced on the bases. He will presumably undergo imaging, and the Rays should offer an update on his status sometime after the game. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:07 pm
