• Marcus Semien homers in eighth to lead Rangers
Marcus Semien hit his fifth homer Friday as the Rangers bested the Reds 2-1.

Advice: Semien nearly had two homers, but his 410-foot drive to center in the fifth, which Statcast said would have been gone in 18 parks, was caught at the wall. The actual homer was hit 392 feet and broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth. It gave hm 19 runs scored and 20 RBI in 27 games, even though it doesn’t seem like either he or the Rangers offense as a whole has really caught fire yet. Rotoworld Yesterday, 11:22 pm
  • Willi Castro doubles twice as Twins top Angels
Willi Castro doubled twice while going 3-for-4 in a victory Friday over the Angels.

Advice: Castro has doubled six times on the year with the pair of two-baggers. The 27-year-old also singled to improve his slash to .221/.307/.377. The versatility is nice, but not nice enough to suggest him as an addition to a fantasy roster. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:43 pm

  • Josh Rojas stays hot with homer vs. Diamondbacks
Josh Rojas hit a solo homer and scored twice against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.

Advice: Rojas has hit in the leadoff spot against right-handers with JP Crawford out of the lineup, and so far it’s worked quite well. He hit a leadoff homer off Zac Gallen in the bottom of the first, and he also drew a walk. The 29-year-old is slashing an outstanding .316/.391/.509 for the first month of the year, and at the very least is someone fantasy managers need to monitor. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:09 pm

  • Kevin Newman connects on solo homer in loss
Kevin Newman hit a solo homer in a loss to the Mariners on Friday.

Advice: Newman was responsible for the only run for the Diamondbacks with a solo shot in the sixth inning. The 30-year-old is still hitting a lackluster .186/.205/.372, and there just aren’t enough nights like this one to consider him as a viable fantasy option. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:09 pm

  • Brice Turang steals 13th base in win over Yankees
Brice Turang went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in a win over the Yankees on Friday in 10 innings.

Advice: That steal is already the 13th of the season for Turang. The speedy infielder also singled twice to improve his average to .329 on the season with an .855 OPS to go along with it. This is obviously not sustainable, but it’s worth noting that Turang is a former first-round pick that was considered a top prospect not that long ago. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:29 pm

  • Joey Ortiz homers, singles home game winner
Joey Ortiz went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI to help the Brewers to a 7-6 win over the Yankees on Friday.

Advice: The homer was the first MLB shot for Ortiz, and it came off Luis Gil in the second inning with a runner on. On top of that honor, the 25-year-old came up clutch with an RBI single in the 11th inning to give the Brewers the victory. Ortiz has held his own in his first year as a member of the Milwaukee infield with a slash of .264/.355/.377, but he’s more of a long-term play than someone fantasy managers should rush to add. • Vidal Bruján scores lone run in loss to Nationals
Vidal Bruján went 2-for-3 and scored the Marlins’ lone run in Friday night’s loss to the Nationals.

Advice: The 26-year-old infielder led off the third inning with a single off of Trevor Williams. He was then awarded second base on a disengagement violation before racing around to score on an RBI single off the bat of Nick Fortes. The former top prospect is off to a very slow start in 2024, slashing a pitiful .154/.241/.192 with zero homers or stolen bases in his first 29 plate appearances. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:40 pm
  • Padres option Matthew Batten back to Triple-A
Padres optioned INF Matthew Batten to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: With Manny Machado returning from the paternity list on Friday night, someone needed to get the boot from the active roster and it would appear as though Batten drew the short straw this time. The 28-year-old is just 1-for-3 (.333) with a single in his limited time with the Padres this season. Rotoworld Yesterday, 5:05 pm

  • Not starting Friday
Estrada (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Advice: Estrada went 0-for-2 in Wednesday's game against the Mets before being pulled due to left hamstring tightness. The Giants had their off day Thursday, but the 28-year-old will sit out for at least one more game while managing his injury. Tyler Fitzgerald will start at second base Friday and bat eighth against Pirates right-hander Quinn Priester. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:18 pm
