• Homer, four hits in win
Smith went 4-for-5 with a home run, a double and three total RBI in Friday's 12-2 victory over the Blue Jays.

Advice: Smith extended Los Angeles' lead to 3-0 in the third inning with an RBI single before adding a solo home run, his second of the year, off Trevor Richards in the fourth. It's Smith's second straight four-hit game (he's gone 8-for-11 with three extra-base hits in that span) and already his fourth this season. The 29-year-old backstop is off to an excellent start, slashing a robust .376/.413/.527 with 21 RBI and 14 runs scored through his first 104 plate appearances. Rotowire.com 33 minutes ago

  • Patrick Bailey hits walk-off homer against Pirates
Patrick Bailey hit a walk-off three-run homer to give the Giants a 3-0 win Friday over the Pirates.

Advice: After being held scoreless for eight frames, Bailey was ready to go home with a three-run blast off David Bednar in the bottom of the ninth to give the Giants the win. The second-year backstop has swung the bat well thus far in 2024, as he’s up to three homers, a .297 average and an OPS of .880. Bailey faltered after a hot start in 2023, but the 24-year-old deserves attention — especially as a player doing this at catcher. Rotoworld Today, 9:51 pm

  • J.T. Realmuto homers in victory over Padres
J.T. Realmuto went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer Friday in a victory over the Padres.

Advice: Realmuto turned a not-so-close game into a blowout with a two-run homer to extend Philadelphia’s lead from 7-1 to 9-1. The backstop also doubled and drew a walk for a very strong fantasy night from a catcher that has provided plenty of them in his career. Rotoworld Today, 9:28 pm
  • Mitch Garver swats solo homer against D-Backs
Mitch Garver hit a solo homer in a victory Friday over the Diamondbacks.

Advice: Both Mitch’s did well for the Mariners on Friday, as Mitch Haniger hit a grand slam to go along with Garver’s shot. It’s just the second homer of the season for the 33-year-old, as he’s been awful to begin 2024 as seen in a slash of .143/.265/.271. Based on his previous seasons, it seems very likely those numbers bounce back in the coming weeks, if not sooner. Rotoworld Today, 9:02 pm

  • Martín Maldonado blasts three-run homer in victory
Martín Maldonado blasted a three-run homer in the sixth inning on Friday, leading the White Sox to a 9-4 victory over the Rays.

Advice: Maldonado really opened up the game with his unlikely 401-foot (105.4 mph EV) three-run blast off of Zach Eflin in the sixth inning — increasing the White Sox’ lead to 5-0. He also singled and scored a run in the eighth inning, finishing the night 2-for-4. On the season, the 37-year-old catcher is now hitting an abysmal .087/.125/.174 with just the one home run and three RBI. Rotoworld Today, 7:28 pm
  • Rene Pinto drives in run in loss to White Sox
Rene Pinto went 1-for-2 with a double, walk and a run scored as the Rays fell to the White Sox on Friday evening in Chicago.

Advice: The 27-year-old backstop drove in a run with an RBI double off of Deivi Garcia in the seventh inning, then came around to score as Amed Rosario drew a bases-loaded walk. After the strong night, Pinto is now hitting .225/.304/.450 with a pair of homers and six RBI. Rotoworld Today, 7:27 pm

  • Will Smith homers, collects fourth four-hit game
Will Smith went 4-for-5 with a homer, a double and three RBI against the Blue Jays on Friday.

Advice: The 360-foot homer was actually just his third farthest hit ball of the night, as he also had a 374-foot sac fly and a 367-foot double. Smith has been spraying hits since day one, but the homer was just his second of the year. It’s his fourth four-hit game. Only three other players entered the day with even two of them (Mookie Betts with three and Yordan Alvarez and Ketel Marte with two apiece). Smith is batting .376/.413/.527 with 21 RBI in 24 games. • Wasn't available after all
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said that Kelly (ribs) wasn't available off the bench after all Friday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Kelly was a late scratch from the lineup after his left ribcage "locked up" on him pregame. While the team isn't overly concerned about the injury, Hinch indicated that the injured list is a possibility since the club doesn't want to play short at catcher. Jake Rogers will be the Tigers' primary backstop while Kelly recovers. Rotowire.com Today, 1:36 pm

  • Out of lineup again Friday
Naylor is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Atlanta.

Advice: It's the second straight game on the bench for the left-handed hitting Naylor, with this one coming against southpaw Chris Sale. Austin Hedges will do the catching for Logan Allen. Rotowire.com Today, 12:55 pm
