    • Marcus Stroman allows three homers in loss to Reds
Marcus Stroman gave up five runs while hurling five innings in a loss to the Reds on Thursday.

Advice: The long ball was a problem for Stroman, as he gave up three homers accounting for all five runs. He walked two and struck out six in a start that would have looked fine without the roundtrippers. That’s not how this works, unfortunately. Stroman will take a 3.58 ERA into his final start of the first half against the Rays on Wednesday. Rotoworld 38 minutes ago
    • Luis Rengifo undergoing MRI on right wrist
Luis Rengifo is out of the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Athletics with right wrist soreness.

Advice: X-rays came back negative for any fractures after Rengifo left Wednesday’s game against the Athletics with right hand soreness following a ninth-inning swing. However, he’s slated to undergo an MRI on Friday in Chicago to determine the extent of the injury, specifically whether he’s dealing with any structural damage. There should be an update on his status in the coming days, but fantasy managers shouldn’t expect him back until the weekend, even if he checks out completely fine. Rotoworld Today, 12:02 pm

    • X-rays negative, but MRI coming
Rengifo is not in the lineup Thursday in Oakland after X-rays on his right wrist came back negative, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Rengifo is set to undergo an MRI on Friday to check for structural damage. The super utility player was injured during Wednesday's loss to the Athletics while taking a swing in the ninth inning. Miguel Sano is playing third base for the Angels on Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 10:38 am

    • Ruled out through All-Star break
Astros manager Joe Espada said Thursday that Verlander (neck) will not return prior to the All-Star break, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Verlander has resumed playing catch and appears to be making some progress as he works his way back from neck soreness. However, it's been about three weeks since he's thrown off a mound, and he'll surely need at least one rehab start before returning. The 41-year-old should be back before the end of July if he can avoid setbacks. Rotowire.com Today, 9:17 am

    • Taking seat Thursday
Cronenworth is not in the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Rangers.

Advice: It's a routine day of rest after Cronenworth started each of the previous 12 games for the Padres. Tyler Wade will receive a start at second base. Rotowire.com Today, 9:06 am

    • Absent from lineup
Buxton is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Buxton started each of the previous four contests but will begin Thursday's festivities on the bench. The Twins are going with Austin Martin in center field in the rubber match of the series. Rotowire.com Today, 6:19 am

    • Brewers bolster rotation with Aaron Civale trade
Brewers acquired RHP Aaron Civale from the Rays for SS Gregory Barrios.

Advice: It doesn’t come as a total shock to see another analytically-driven front office rolling the dice on Civale after he spent the first couple seasons of his career in Cleveland and Tampa Bay’s pitching development engines. The 29-year-old righty was phenomenal last year for the Rays following a midseason trade from the Guardians, but his strikeout rate has regressed back to previous level this year and he’s struggled to a pedestrian 5.07 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 84/27 K/BB ratio across 87 innings (17 starts). Even if the strikeouts don’t return, Civale represents an upgrade for Milwaukee’s injury-ravaged starting rotation moving forward, even if it’s a tough landing spot for fantasy purposes from a park factors standpoint. • Loving Dodger Stadium
Walker went 4-for-5 with a walk, a double, two home runs, four RBI and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 12-4 win over the Dodgers.

Advice: Walker, who homered in the first game of the series Tuesday, gave Arizona the lead with a two-run homer in the fourth inning then finished off the Dodgers with a two-run shot in the ninth. The first baseman has five home runs in Dodger Stadium this season and 17 in 41 career games at Chavez Ravine. Walker leads the Diamondbacks with 20 homers and 59 RBI. Rotowire.com Today, 4:36 am
    • Homers in third straight game
Alvarez went 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, a walk, three runs and three RBI in a 9-2 victory versus the Blue Jays on Wednesday.

Advice: Alvarez was a constant thorn in Toronto's side in the contest. He plated Houston's first run with a third-inning double, added a tiebreaking solo shot in the sixth inning and produced another RBI with a double in the eighth. Alvarez has gone deep in each of his past three contests, batting .545 (6-for-11) with three long balls, eight RBI and six runs over that span. Rotowire.com Today, 12:43 am
