    • Fans nine over seven scoreless
Lugo (4-1) earned the win Friday in Detroit after he struck out nine and allowed three hits and two walks across even scoreless innings.

Advice: The right-hander generated 13 swinging strikes on 103 pitches as he and Detroit starter Reese Olson combined to give up just a single run in 14 frames. The swing-and-miss stuff from Lugo was a welcome sight after he posted a 4.1 K/9 through his first five starts of the season. The beginning of Lugo's tenure in Kansas City couldn't have gone much better, as he has a 1.66 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 23:9 K:BB over 38 innings. Rotowire.com Today, 2:48 pm

    • Seth Lugo fires seven scoreless to defeat Tigers
Seth Lugo delivered a masterful performance in Friday afternoon’s victory over the Tigers, racking up nine strikeouts over seven innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: Lugo scattered just three hits and a pair of walks on the afternoon. All of the hits that he did allow were singles, and the Tigers never really mounted a serious scoring threat against him. He got 13 swings and misses on 103 pitches on the day, posting an elite CSW of 35 percent. He has been everything the Royals could have hoped for so far — going 4-1 with a minuscule 1.66 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and a 23/9 K/BB ratio across 38 innings through his first six starts. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he does battle against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Wednesday. Rotoworld Today, 1:18 pm

    • Sent back to Triple-A
The Orioles optioned Holliday to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday.

Advice: The top prospect made his big-league debut April 10 in Boston to much fanfare, but he looked entirely overmatched at the plate in his first couple weeks of MLB action. Holliday went 2-for-34 with two walks, five runs and 18 strikeouts in 10 games, so the Orioles opted to return him to Norfolk. The 20-year-old could rejoin Baltimore for another look later in the season, but for now he'll head back to Triple-A, where he posted a 1.077 OPS in 56 plate appearances to start the year. • Orioles option Jackson Holliday to Triple-A
Orioles optioned Jackson Holliday to Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: There was a ton of excitement for Baltimore’s top prospect to join the major league. However, the 20-year-old got off to a really cold start and the team is making the decision to send him back to the minors. Holliday had an excellent spring training, but that didn’t correlate to the regular season where he had just two hits in his 36 plate appearances in his 10 games with the Orioles. Baseball is a tough sport and sometimes hitting the reset button is the best option for a struggling young player. Rotoworld Today, 10:22 am

    • Throws bullpen session
Darvish (neck) threw a bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Darvish's bullpen session marked his first time throwing off a mound since he landed on the 15-day injured list April 17 with neck tightness. Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated that Darvish wasn't throwing with full effort, saying the right-hander "was on the gas, but didn't have it to the floor." Darvish will likely require at least one or two more bullpen sessions before progressing to facing hitters and then perhaps heading out on a rehab assignment. There's no clear timeline yet for his return to San Diego's rotation. Rotowire.com Today, 6:57 am

    • Pitches eighth inning Thursday
Payamps pitched a scoreless eighth inning of Thursday's 7-5 win over the Pirates, giving up one hit and one walk en route to claiming his third hold of the season.

Advice: Just one day after notching his fourth save of the season, Payamps moved to a setup role Thursday, with Trevor Megill coming on in the ninth inning to nab his first save. Brewers manager Pat Murphy hasn't clarified that Megill will be the team's top option for save chances moving forward, so Payamps could end finding himself as part of a committee at closer with Megill and perhaps Abner Uribe. • Nabs another start Sunday
Elder is slated to start Sunday's game against the Guardians in Atlanta.

Advice: Elder staged a successful 2024 MLB debut Monday, holding the Marlins scoreless over 6.2 innings while striking out four and allowing nine baserunners in a winning effort. He joined the Atlanta rotation as a replacement for Darius Vines and should have some staying power with the big club due to Spencer Strider (elbow) being out for the season. Elder compiled a 3.81 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 128:63 K:BB across 174.2 innings with Atlanta in 2023. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:44 pm

    • Nico Hoerner picks up three more hits vs. Astros
Nico Hoerner went 3-for-5 against the Astros on Thursday.

Advice: Hoerner singled twice and added a double. The 26-year-old now has his average to .300 to go with a .785 OPS. This makes back-to-back multi-hit games for Hoerner, and he appears to be figuring things out after a slow start on the season. Fantasy managers sure would like to see more running from a player that stole 43 bases last year, as Hoerner is still stuck on one stolen base in 2024. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:09 pm

    • Ends homer drought
Arozarena went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Tigers.

Advice: Arozarena went deep in his first plate appearance of the game, snapping a 19-start homeless drought. He struck out in his remaining three at-bats and has now punched out three times in three of his last five contests. Arozarena has gotten off to a poor start to the season, highlighted by a .158 average and a 29.1 percent strikeout rate. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:53 am
