      Encarnacion-Strand went 0-for-3 in Friday's 3-0 loss to Baltimore.

Advice: Encarnacion-Strand missed the last four games with a hand injury. His first full season in the majors has gotten off to a rocky start: the first baseman is slashing .190/.216/.305 over 111 plate appearances. His strikeout rate is nearly identical to what it was in 2023, but the walk rate is about half of what it was last year and Encarnacion-Strand is in the fifth percentile in chase percentage. • Throws across infield practice
Gelof (oblique) threw across the infield before Friday's game against the Marlins, the Associated Press reports.

Advice: Gelof was cleared for baseball activities Wednesday, when he began fielding grounders and playing catch. His ability to do some more aggressive throwing Friday is certainly another encouraging benchmark, although it remains unclear when he'll be ready to pick up a bat again. • Dazzles in victory
Cease (4-2) earned the win Friday against the Diamondbacks, allowing one run, three hits and no walks over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Cease continued his brilliant start to the season Friday night, generating 18 whiffs en route to eight strikeouts. The erstwhile White Sox pitcher appears to have re-found his 2022 form, pitching to the tune of a 2.55 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 48:14 K:BB over 42.1 innings. Cease looks to keep it rolling in his next start, scheduled against the Cubs in Chicago. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:10 pm
    • Manny Machado swats two-run HR in victory
Manny Machado hit a two-run homer in a victory over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Advice: Machado extended the Padres’ lead to 7-0 with a two-run shot in the fifth. The third baseman also drew a walk, and it helps his improve his slash to .250/.306/.403 over 124 at-bats. Rotoworld Yesterday, 9:25 pm

    • Dylan Cease pitches into seventh to get fourth win
Dylan Cease allowed just a run in 6 2/3 innings against the Diamondbacks on Friday while picking up a win.

Advice: Cease was able to pick up his fourth win of the season with the victory. The right-hander picked up eight strikeouts in the process while not issuing any walks. When the 28-year-old throws strikes, he’s one of the toughest pitchers to have success against, and Friday was a good example of that. He’ll look to repeat his success against the Cubs next week. • Yields three runs
Blanco allowed three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out six during the win over Seattle.

Advice: All the damage against Blanco came via the long ball, with Jorge Polanco going deep in the third inning followed by Dylan Moore in the fifth. Entering Friday's start, Blanco had given up just two homers through 32.2 frames. It was the first time this season he's allowed more than two runs in an outing but he did produce his fifth quality start. Blanco owns a terrific 2.09 ERA with a 36:16 K:BB. His next start is lined up to be on the road against the Yankees. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:14 pm

    • Tanner Bibee struggles in loss to Angels on Friday
Tanner Bibee struggled in a losing effort against the Angels on Friday night, allowing six runs on eight hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: Bibee walked one and struck out four in the contest. The 25-year-old right-hander followed up one of his best starts of the season with an absolute dud against a depleted Angels’ squad on Friday night. The bulk of the damage came via the long ball, with Nolan Schanuel clubbing a solo homer in the third inning and Mickey Moniak adding a three-run blast in the fourth. Bibee generated nine swings and misses on 91 pitches on the night, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 23 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 4.46 ERA and 1.38 WHIP into Wednesday’s matchup against the Tigers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:33 pm

    • Reached base three times
Julien went 1-for-2 with two RBI, two walks and a stolen base in Friday's win over Boston.

Advice: Julien was stuck in an 0-for-11 drought since his last hit April 27. The lefty slugger drove in a run with a third-inning single before drawing a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. He's now slashing .222/.342/.485 with 14 RBI and two stolen bases through 31 appearances. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:13 pm

    • Ronel Blanco allows three over six against Seattle
Ronel Blanco was charged for three runs over six innings Friday in a no-decision against the Mariners.

Advice: He gave up five hits while walking three and striking out six. Blanco gave up a pair of homers Friday, one of them being a solo shot by Jorge Polanco and the other a two-run homer by Dylan Moore. The right-hander exited with a 3-1 deficit, but the Astros were able to score four after he left to keep him off the hook. Blanco will take a 2.09 ERA into his next start which is scheduled for Thursday against the Yankees. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:05 pm
