• Chris Flexen fires five scoreless in win over Rays
Chris Flexen was terrific in Friday night’s victory over the Rays, allowing just two hits over five innings of shutout baseball.

Advice: Flexen also issued three walks on the night while striking out a pair. Flexen got eight swings and misses on just 72 pitches in the contest, registering a CSW of 28 percent. The only real threat against him came as Yandy Diaz led off the game with a double, but he would wind up stranded right there. Now 1-3 on the season, Flexen will look to further improve upon his 5.11 ERA and 1.34 WHIP when he toes the slab against the Twins on Wednesday. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago

  • Zach Eflin struggles in loss to White Sox
Zach Eflin struggled in a losing effort against the White Sox on Friday evening, surrendering five runs (four earned) on nine hits over his six frames.

Advice: The right-hander also issued a pair of walks while striking out four batters on the night. The White Sox scratched out single runs against him in the third and fourth innings, but the biggest blow came on an unlikely three-run blast from light-hitting backstop Martin Maldonado in the sixth. Eflin generated eight swings and misses on 90 pitches on the night, posting a strong CSW of 33 percent. He’ll carry a 4.08 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and a 30/4 K/BB ratio (35 1/3 innings) into Wednesday’s matchup against the Brewers in Milwaukee. Rotoworld 15 minutes ago
  • Shota Imanaga breezes through Red Sox, gets to 4-0
Shota Imanaga pitched 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball and struck out seven as the Cubs topped the Red Sox 7-1 on Friday.

Advice: The Red Sox were one of the teams that wanted Imanaga over the winter, and there’s been speculation that they made him a higher offer than the Cubs. He made it look pretty easy tonight; he got 14 whiffs and the average exit velocity against him was a paltry 79.6 mph. This makes him 4-0 with a 0.98 ERA, and he has to be viewed as a top-20 fantasy SP at this point. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago
  • Kutter Crawford sees ERA double in loss
Kutter Crawford yielded four runs — three earned — and 10 hits in six innings Friday in a loss to the Cubs.

Advice: Crawford might not have made it out of the second tonight if Bobby Dalbec hadn’t made a great play on a liner for two outs. Apart from that, Crawford was quite unlucky tonight, giving up 10 hits despite allowing only four hard-hit balls. His ERA doubled, going from 0.66 to 1.35. Next on the schedule for him is a home start versus the Giants. Rotoworld 18 minutes ago

  • Gavin Stone strong for seven in downing Jays
Gavin Stone limited the Blue Jays to one run and two hits over seven innings in the Dodgers’ 12-2 rout Friday.

Advice: Stone got just two strikeouts and four missed swings tonight, but he did a nice job of keeping the ball on the ground while picking up his second win and quality start in five tries this year. He’ll take a 4.68 ERA into a tough matchup against the Braves next week. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago
  • Chris Bassitt tagged for seven runs by Dodgers
Chris Bassitt was lit up for seven runs in 2 2/3 innings by the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Bassitt had no luck at all tonight. He gave up hits on nine of 12 balls in play, even though just five were hard-hit. The two homers he allowed were hit 360 and 366 feet, with the former being a homer in just 11 of 30 ballparks. Bassitt’s ERA jumped from 3.90 to 5.66. If it makes anyone feel better, he finished April at 5.18 last year and then came in at 3.29 the rest of the way. Rotoworld 47 minutes ago
  • Trevor Williams pitches well again in no-decision
Trevor Williams delivered another strong start in a no-decision against the Marlins on Friday night, giving up just one run on five hits over his five innings of work.

Advice: The crafty right-hander also issued a pair of walks on the night while recording only one strikeout. The lone run that scored against him came in the third inning as Vidal Bruján smacked a leadoff single, was awarded second on a disengagement violation and scored on an RBI single by Nick Fortes. Williams got six whiffs on 80 pitches on the evening, posting an underwhelming CSW of only 20 percent. The 32-year-old hurler will carry a stellar 2.70 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 19/8 K/BB ratio (26 2/3 innings) into a tough matchup against the Rangers in Arlington on Wednesday. Rotoworld 58 minutes ago
  • Padres option Randy Vasquez back to Triple-A
Padres optioned RHP Randy Vasquez to Triple-A El Paso.

Advice: The 25-year-old right-hander struggled in his second start against the Rockies on Thursday, giving up four runs over 2 2/3 innings of work. That brought him to an uninspiring 5.87 ERA over 7 2/3 innings through his first two outings. It’s not yet clear what the Padres plan to do to fill his spot in the rotation for Tuesday’s matchup against the Reds. Rotoworld Today, 5:07 pm
  • John Means to make another rehab start on Sunday
John Means (elbow) is scheduled to make his next minor league rehab start on Sunday at Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: The 31-year-old southpaw gave up three runs over 4 1/3 innings his last time out on Tuesday, racking up five strikeouts and throwing a total of 79 pitches (53 strikes). Unless Sunday’s start is a complete disaster, one would think that Means would be cleared to rejoin the Orioles’ rotation next weekend against the Reds in Cincinnati. Rotoworld Today, 4:44 pm
