• Remains winless
Soroka (0-4) took the loss Tuesday against the Rays, giving up four runs (three earned) on three hits and four walks over five innings as the White Sox fell 5-1. He struck out four.

Advice: The right-hander struggled to find the plate, throwing 59 of 102 pitches for strikes, and he didn't get much help from his defense or his offense. Soroka is still only 26 years old, but after missing most of three seasons due to multiple Achilles tears and other injuries, he simply may never regain the promise he showed in 2019. He'll carry a 6.34 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 20:23 K:BB through 38.1 innings into his next start, which lines up to come this weekend at home against the Guardians. Rotowire.com Today, 7:39 am
  • Headed back to minors
Hancock will be optioned to Triple-A Tacoma when Bryan Woo (elbow) rejoins the Mariners' rotation, Ryan Divish reports.

Advice: Hancock started Tuesday's game against the Twins, so his option could become official later Wednesday with Woo poised to return Friday. The right-hander has put up a 5.24 ERA and 23:11 K:BB over 34.1 innings covering seven starts for the Mariners this season. Hancock will join Tacoma's rotation and would figure to be the guy Seattle calls upon when it needs another starter. Rotowire.com Today, 7:35 am
  • Season debut coming soon
Woo (elbow) is expected to rejoin the Mariners' rotation during their upcoming homestand, Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports.

Advice: Manager Scott Servais wasn't ready to give an exact date for Woo's return but noted that it will be day which would allow for an extra day of rest for the team's other starters. That would seem to point to Woo starting Friday against the Athletics, but the exact plans should be revealed soon. Emerson Hancock will be optioned to Triple-A Tacoma when Woo returns. • Stymies Rockies at Coors
Harrison (3-1) earned the win over the Rockies on Tuesday, tossing seven shutout innings while allowing four hits and two walks. He struck out two.

Advice: Harrison twirled another gem Tuesday night, this time in the hitter-friendly Coors Field. He tossed a career-best seven scoreless frames and has now allowed just one run over his last 18 innings pitched. Harrison battled control issues in Triple-A but seems to have shrugged off any concerns thus far. Through eight starts, Harrison has gone at least six innings and issued two or less walks five times. He's now down to a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 40:12 K:BB in 45 innings and projects for a matchup at home against the Reds over the weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 7:09 am
  • Used in long relief
Keller allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks with no strikeouts across three innings Tuesday against the Rays. He did not factor into the decision.

Advice: Keller pitched as a traditional starter May 1, but he was shifted back to the bullpen after Mike Clevinger was promoted to the majors. Keller pitched effectively in his return to relief and followed Michael Soroka into the game. However, due to his lack of strikeouts and relatively low win potential, Keller isn't likely to generate much fantasy intrigue. Rotowire.com Today, 6:57 am
  • Throwing from 90 feet
Rays manager Kevin Cash said Friday that McClanahan (elbow) is "progressing well" and has ramped up his throwing off flat ground to 90 feet, MLB.com reports.

Advice: The left-hander is still in the early stages of his recovery from his second career Tommy John surgery, which he underwent Aug. 21, 2023. The Rays are preparing for McClanahan to miss the entire 2024 season, though a return in September hasn't been completed discounted if the rehab process goes smoothly for the 27-year-old southpaw. • Dragged down by blow-up inning
Hancock didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks with no strikeouts over four innings.

Advice: Hancock failed to tally a single strikeout Tuesday -- generating just five swinging strikes -- and yielded all four hits and four runs in the third frame. Hancock couldn't get out of the inning despite retiring the first two batters he faced, allowing a single, walk, RBI single and three-run home run to consecutive batters. Considering Bryan Woo (elbow) just threw five innings in a rehab start and is eligible to come off the injured list Friday, Hancock may be sent to the bullpen or the minors instead of sticking around in the rotation for another start. In seven starts this year, Hancock owns a 5.24 ERA and a 23:11 K:BB over 34.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:31 pm
  • Kyle Harrison combines on shutout of Rockies
Kyle Harrison pitched four-hit ball for seven innings and combined with two relievers on a 5-0 shutout of the Rockies on Tuesday.

Advice: Ryan Walker and Camilo Doval, who hadn’t pitched in five days, finished up the Giants’ shutout. Harrison struck out just two tonight and gave up a pair of 390-foot flies to Ezequiel Tovar and Jordan Beck, but he was never stressed. The win moves him to 3-1 with a 3.20 ERA. He’ll work at home against the Reds on Sunday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:41 pm
  • Emerson Hancock allows four ER over four innings
Emerson Hancock allowed four earned runs over four innings in Tuesday’s win over the Twins.

Advice: Things got rough for Hancock in the third inning. Entering the frame with a 2-0 lead, Hancock allowed a two-out single to Jose Miranda followed by a walk to Edouard Julien. Trevor Larnach would single to score Miranda, but it was a three-run homer by Ryan Jeffers in the following at-bat that gave that did the most damage. Emerson would pitch a perfect fourth and be pulled in place of Gabe Speier to start the fifth. He didn’t record a strikeout in this one, and will carry a 5.24 ERA into Sunday’s start against the Athletics. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:53 pm
