    Santiago Espinal hit a two-run homer as a pinch-hitter to help propel the Reds past the Cubs 5-4 on Friday.

    Advice: Espinal hit for Will Benson against lefty Drew Smyly in the seventh and drove the first pitch he saw 385 feet to left-center.     Tommy Edman (wrist) was able to take batting practice from the left side of the plate for the first time on Friday.

    Advice: Edman is already eligible to be activated from the 60-day injured list, but he’s still not close to being ready. The fact that he’s now able to face live pitching from both sides of the plate though is an encouraging sign and perhaps a minor league rehab assignment could be in the cards soon.
