• Criswell has shortest outing in no-decision
Cooper Criswell allowed five runs (three earned) in 3 2/3 innings in the Red Sox’ loss to the Rays on Thursday.

Advice: Criswell was coming off his best start of the year in which he recorded nine strikeouts. He followed that up with his shortest start of the season and only three strikeouts. Criswell doesn’t work deep into games, but his ERA is still just 2.76 on the season. The 27-year-old journeyman right-hander is set to face the Rays on the road in his next start.

  • Littel gets no-decision Thursday
Zack Littel allowed four earned runs, struck out three and picked up the no-decision in the Rays’ 7-5 victory over the Red Sox on Thursday.

Advice: Littel was a member of the Red Sox for about a week last season before the Rays claimed him off waivers and turned him into a starting pitcher. He completed five innings and left the game with a 5-4 lead, but the bullpen couldn’t hold that lead. He has a 3.44 ERA on the season. Littel is set to face the Red Sox again at home in his next start.

  • Struggles in rookie ball start
Medina (knee) began a rehab assignment Wednesday in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and was charged with six earned runs on six hits and zero walks while striking out three over two innings.

Advice: Though Medina didn't issue a walk in the first start of his rehab assignment, he didn't necessarily exhibit strong control, as he tossed two wild pitches and hit one of the 13 batters he faced. Some rustiness was to be expected from Medina, who hadn't pitched in a competitive setting since his March 4 Cactus League start before he went down with a Grade 2 MCL sprain of his right knee. He'll likely need three or four rehab starts to get fully stretched out, so he shouldn't be viewed as a realistic candidate to return from the 60-day injured list and join the Oakland rotation until around early-to-mid June. • Back in minors
The Dodgers optioned Salazar to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

He'll now return to the minors in favor of Nick Ramirez, who was recalled in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:43 pm

  • Brought back up
The Dodgers recalled Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Advice: Ramirez has allowed just one run across seven big-league innings this season, and he has thrown 5.2 shutout frames in Triple-A since being sent down in late April. The 34-year-old southpaw will likely serve in middle relief while with the Dodgers, and Eduardo Salazar will head back to Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 3:40 pm

  • Dodgers recall lefty Nick Ramirez on Thursday
Dodgers recalled LHP Nick Ramirez from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: Ramirez provides Los Angeles with a fresh reliever heading into Thursday’s series opener against the Reds at Dodger Stadium. The 34-year-old southpaw has recorded a pristine 1.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 2/3 K/BB ratio across seven innings (five appearances) this season in his Dodgers debut. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:29 pm

  • Dodgers option Eduardo Salazar to Triple-A
Dodgers optioned RHP Eduardo Salazar to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Advice: Salazar heads back to the minors after allowing one run (zero earned) with three strikeouts over two innings on Wednesday in his Dodgers debut. The 26-year-old righty figures to oscillate between Los Angeles’ bullpen and Triple-A Oklahoma City as extra organizational relief depth for the next few months. Rotoworld Yesterday, 3:27 pm

  • Guardians activate Sam Hentges for Friday return
Guardians activated LHP Sam Hentges from the paternity list.

The 27-year-old lefty has made three scoreless appearances since returning from the injured list following a five-weeks absence due to left middle finger inflammation.
