• Struggles in spot start
Lucchesi (0-1) took the loss against Philadelphia on Wednesday, allowing five runs on five hits and four walks while striking out two batters over 4.1 innings.

Advice: It certainly wasn't an ideal matchup for Lucchesi to make his first start of the season, and he didn't do himself any favors in issuing four free passes. Three of the walks came in the fifth frame, and all three of the recipients came around to score. The left-hander was also tormented by Bryce Harper, who hit a solo homer against him in the first inning and then sent him to the showers with a two-run double in the fifth. Lucchesi may return to the minors in short order with Tylor Megill (shoulder) expected to rejoin New York's rotation Sunday or Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:10 pm
  • Extends scoreless innings streak
Weaver struck out three batters, walked one and gave up two hits over two scoreless innings in relief against Minnesota on Wednesday.

Advice: Weaver covered the seventh and eighth frames Wednesday, allowing a single in each inning but keeping the Twins off the scoreboard. The veteran right-hander has gone 17.1 frames without giving up an earned run, lowering his season ERA to 2.25 in the process. Weaver has posted an outstanding 30:5 K:BB across 28 innings on the season and has tallied the first five holds of his career after spending most of his previous eight campaigns as a starter. • Marcus Stroman twirls six scoreless innings
Marcus Stroman held the Twins scoreless across six innings on Wednesday earning the win. He allowed two hits, walked three, and struck out two.

Advice: Stroman wasn’t particularly sharp in this one with just two strikeouts and three walks. The Twins also had 10 hard hit balls, seven of which were hit in the air, but they couldn’t sustain any type of rally. But that’s what happens when the Yankees play the Twins, with a 119-43 record in their last 162 games against Minnesota. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:22 pm
  • Tylor Megill (shoulder) to return Sunday or Monday
Mets’ manager Carlos Mendoza told reporters on Wednesday that Tylor Megill (shoulder) will return from the injured list to start on Sunday or Monday.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander looked sharp in his final rehab start at Triple-A Syracuse, punching out seven batters across four innings of shutout baseball, though he only threw 62 pitches in that start. Expect him to be limited — from a pitch count perspective — the first time that he takes the hill with the Mets. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:03 pm

  • Breaks into win column
Gomber (1-2) earned the win against San Diego on Wednesday, pitching six scoreless innings during which he allowed two hits and walked two batters while striking out five.

Advice: The only two hits Gomber allowed were singles that the Padres couldn't cash in. The southpaw completed six innings for the fourth straight game and notched his third consecutive quality start. Wednesday's victory was his first of the campaign, but it was overdue based on how he's been pitching of late. Over his past three outings, Gomber has allowed just one earned run across 18.2 frames despite a mediocre 13:6 K:BB. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:01 pm
  • Giants believe Keaton Winn’s injury is mild
Giants’ manager Bob Melvin told reporters on Wednesday that Keaton Winn’s forearm tightness is “pretty mild”.

Advice: At least that’s the initial diagnosis after Winn left Tuesday’s start with the issue. It still sounds like he’s going to miss at least one start — and could still wind up on the injured list — but the Giants aren’t expecting him to miss a significant amount of time. Mason Black is an option to start in his place on Friday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:01 pm
  • Javier Assad cruises through six to beat Braves
Javier Assad continued his strong season with six scoreless innings in the Cubs’ 7-1 victory in Atlanta. He struck out seven, allowed four hits, and just one walk earning the win.

Advice: Unfazed by the Braves’ daunting lineup, Assad was in complete control in this one. Only one runner reached scoring position and he lowered his ERA to a sparkling 1.49, good for the fourth-lowest among all starting pitchers. He’s lined up for a rematch with the Braves on Monday. • Charlie Morton chased after three innings
Charlie Morton had a rough start Wednesday allowing three earned runs in just three innings. The Cubs had five hits while Morton walked three more and struck out four.

Advice: Mike Tauchman homered on the first pitch he saw from Morton and nothing was easy after that. Even the unearned he allowed was on his own poor pick-off attempt wide or Matt Olson at first base. It’s still been a solid season overall for Morton and he’ll take a 3.52 ERA into a rematch against these Cubs on Monday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:47 pm
  • Jon Gray tosses 6 1/3 shutout in win vs. Guardians
Jon Gray tossed 6 1/3 shutout innings with three strikeouts in a win over the Guardians on Wednesday.

Advice: Gray’s outstanding run continued on Wednesday with another stellar outing. He held the Guardians scoreless over 6 1/3 frames, stranding four hits and two walks while striking out three batters. After giving up five runs in his first start, Gray has not allowed more than two runs in each of his last eight outings. The 32-year-old right-hander ends the day with a 2.08 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, and a 52/14 K/BB ratio across 52 innings. Gray will take on the Phillies on the road next Wednesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:38 pm
