    • Bryan Reynolds has three hits, homer in defeat
Bryan Reynolds went 3-for-5 with a homer in a loss Thursday to the Giants.

Advice: Reynolds hit one of three homer for the Pirates on Thursday. The 29-year-old also singled twice to push his average to .260 with a .772 OPS. Reynolds should continue to see those numbers climb as we get deeper into the season based on his track record. Rotoworld 25 minutes ago
    • Launches fourth home run
Correa went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Nationals.

Advice: Correa extended Minnesota's lead to 2-0 with two outs in the sixth inning with a solo shot off Jake Irvin, his fourth of the year and second in three days. The 29-year-old Correa has a hit in five straight games, going 5-for-17 with a 1.133 OPS in that span. He's now slashing .268/.362/.455 on the season with 13 RBI and 18 runs scored through 130 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 7:40 am

    • Drawing start Thursday
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said that Brown will start Thursday's game against Atlanta at Wrigley Field, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Brown will pick up his fifth start of the season, filling the spot in the rotation that belonged to Kyle Hendricks before the veteran right-hander was moved to the bullpen earlier this week. Because he hasn't started since May 2 and will be pitching on three days' rest after covering two frames in relief Sunday, Brown may not be asked to give the Cubs more than three or four innings as he re-enters the rotation. Hendricks hasn't been used since his last start Friday and could be called upon to piggyback Brown, but Counsell hasn't outlined his plans for when Brown exits the contest. Brown may not be in line for a lengthy stay in the rotation, as the Cubs could get Jordan Wicks (forearm) back from the injured list next week to take over as their No. 5 starter. • Goes eight innings in no-decision
Gomber did not factor into the decision in a win over Oakland on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits while striking out six over eight innings.

Advice: Gomber went 1-2-3 through Oakland's lineup in each of the first three innings before surrendering a solo homer to JJ Bleday in the bottom of the fourth. However, that would be the only run he'd allow while going eight innings for the first time this season. The lefty induced 12 whiffs on the night and didn't walk a batter for the first time in his last four starts. It also marked Gomber's fourth consecutive quality start, and he now carries a pristine 0.68 ERA in May. Rotowire.com Today, 4:04 am

    • Austin Gomber holds A’s to one run over eight
Austin Gomber tossed eight innings of one-run ball with six strikeouts in a no-decision against the Athletics on Wednesday.

Advice: Gomber was excellent against the A’s, holding them to one run over eight innings of work. The one mistake was a solo homer by JJ Bleday in the fourth inning. Gomber scattered four more hits and struck out six batters with no walks allowed. He was saddled with a no-decision after a blown save in the ninth. The 30-year-old left-hander will take an impressive 2.76 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and a 41/17 K/BB ratio across 58 2/3 innings into a start against the Guardians in Colorado on Monday. • Launches sixth homer
Verdugo went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Mariners.

Advice: All of the Yankees' runs came via the long ball Wednesday, and Verdugo's eighth-inning blast cut off the Mariners' hopes of a comeback. The veteran outfielder has gone 11-for-37 (.297) over his last nine contests, picking up at least one hit in eight of them while adding nine RBI and five doubles. He's slashing .254/.325/.422 with six homers, 26 RBI, 23 runs scored and a stolen base over 197 plate appearances this season. Verdugo won't get the accolades of fellow outfielders Juan Soto and Aaron Judge, but he's been a strong and steady presence as the Yankees' starting left fielder this season. • Slugs grand slam
Reynolds went 2-for-5 with a grand slam during Wednesday's 9-5 loss to the Giants in 10 innings.

Advice: Reynolds clobbered his second-career grand slam Wednesday, bringing Joey Bart, Michael Taylor and Andrew McCutchen in to score and give the Pirates a 5-0 lead. Since May 5, Reynolds is batting .284 with two homers, nine RBI, seven runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:16 pm
    • Bryan Reynolds blasts grand slam in loss to Giants
Bryan Reynolds clobbered a grand slam in the fourth inning on Wednesday, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Pirates past the visiting Giants.

Advice: The Pirates entered the home half of the fourth inning engaged in a scoreless tie. They pushed a run across as Andrew McCutchen was plunked with the bases loaded, then Reynolds greeted Sean Hjelle with a 386-foot (100.1 mph EV) grand slam that made it a 5-0 ballgame. The 29-year-old outfielder also singled in the contest, finishing the night 2-for-5. On the season, he’s now hitting .251/.335/.412 to go with six homers, 26 RBI and four swipes. • Ben Brown set to start for Cubs on Thursday
Ben Brown will start for the Cubs on Thursday against the Braves.

Advice: The Cubs needed to fill the rotation spot that was vacated when Kyle Hendricks was moved to the bullpen. The 24-year-old right-hander has pitched well in both roles for the Cubs this season, registering a 3.57 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 39/13 K/BB ratio (35 1/3 innings) over 11 appearances (four starts). Streamers beware though, he hasn’t thrown more than 42 pitches in an outing since May 2 and may not work deep enough into Thursday’s game to earn a victory. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:03 pm
