    • J.D. Martinez hits walk-off blast against Marlins
J.D. Martinez slugged a game-winning two-run homer on Thursday, lifting the Mets to a 3-2 walk-off victory over the Marlins.

Advice: Martinez’s walk-off shot came against Marlins stopper Tanner Scott in the bottom of the ninth inning and was his sixth round-tripper of the year. It was also somehow his first career walk-off homer in 14 seasons in the big leagues since 2011. He’s now hitting .271 with 21 RBI in 41 games for the Mets this year. Rotoworld Today, 7:05 pm

    • Bumped back to Friday
Castillo's next start has been pushed back a day to Friday against the Rangers, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Advice: The Mariners have just one off day over the next two weeks and one member of their rotation, Bryan Woo (forearm), who is banged up, so the team will use this as an opportunity to give their regular starters some rest. Emerson Hancock will draw the start Thursday versus the White Sox while everyone else gets bumped back. Rotowire.com Today, 11:18 am

    • Nearly ready to take swings
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Nootbaar (oblique) continues to take part in "rotational work" and could resume swinging a bat this weekend, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Cardinals will presumably ease Nootbaar into swinging by having him hit off a tee or hit soft-toss throws before he eventually gains clearance to hit against higher-velocity pitching. In addition to being able to hit without discomfort, Nootbaar, who has been on the injured list since May 31 with a left oblique strain, will also need to prove that the injury doesn't compromise him when he runs the bases or plays the outfield. He still appears to be at least a couple weeks away from being a realistic option to rejoin the Cardinals, and Nootbaar will presumably need to go out on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated. • On base five times in loss
Perez went 2-for-2 with three walks in Wednesday's 11-5 loss to the Yankees.

Advice: Perez walked three times in a game for the first time in his career. The catcher has gone just 6-for-33 (.182) over 10 contests in June, but he's shown rare patience at the plate by drawing eight walks in that span. For the season, he's at a .302/.381/.488 slash line with 10 home runs, 42 RBI, 26 runs scored, 15 doubles and no stolen bases, and his 9.0 percent walk rate is double his previous career high, which was in a 39-game sample as a rookie in 2011. • Hits seventh homer
Marte went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk, two total runs and two total RBI in Monday's 10-4 victory against the Marlins.

Advice: Marte swatted a 434-foot solo shot in the fifth inning and added an RBI single in the eighth. The veteran outfielder finished with two hits for the third straight game. He's on a hot streak that has lasted more than two weeks -- Marte has seven multi-hit efforts in 10 contests since May 29 and is batting .471 (16-for-34) with nine RBI, eight runs and two stolen bases over that stretch. • Unravels in no-decision
Sanchez did not factor into the decision in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Red Sox, allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts over four innings.

Advice: Sanchez opened with three scoreless frames before allowing a run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth, then he surrendered three straight hits to open the fifth and was pulled at just 67 pitches. All three inherited runners came around to score, marking the first time since April 29 that Sanchez yielded four runs or more in a start. On the season, Sanchez now owns a 3.07 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 61:23 K:BB through 13 starts. He lines up next against the Padres on Monday. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 8:57 pm
    • Cristopher Sánchez pulled in fifth versus Boston
Cristopher Sánchez was charged with four runs in four-plus innings Wednesday against the Red Sox.

Advice: It was one run through four, but the Red Sox opened up the fifth with three straight singles, only one of them hard hit, and the decision was made to pull Sánchez. There’s a good argument that Sánchez deserves better at this point — he entered the game with a 2.71 ERA, and he had thrown just 67 pitches tonight — but the Phillies wanted to be aggressive with their bullpen usage tonight. It just didn’t work out, in part because the team declined to use its best relievers. Rotoworld Yesterday, 8:37 pm
    • Starling Marte goes deep as Mets crush Marlins
Starling Marte went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI on Wednesday night, helping to power the Mets to a 10-4 victory over the visiting Marlins.

Advice: The 35-year-old outfielder clobbered a mammoth 434-foot (106.4 mph EV) solo shot off of Braxton Garrett in the fifth inning that increased the Mets’ advantage to 6-4. He also drove in a run with a two-out RBI single in the eighth inning that capped off the scoring in the ballgame. Marte drew a walk as well, reaching base safely in three of his five plate appearances. He has been highly productive when healthy this season, slashing .288/.338/.437 with seven homers, 28 RBI and 10 swipes in his first 59 games. Rotoworld Yesterday, 7:48 pm

    • Next start pushed back
Manager Dave Roberts said Wednesday that Yamamoto's next start will be pushed back from Thursday against the Rangers in Los Angeles to Saturday's home game versus Kansas City, Kirsten Watson of Spectrum SportsNet LA reports.

Advice: The Dodgers haven't announced a replacement starter for Thursday's contest, but they will give the rookie right-hander an extra couple of days to rest up after he threw a season-high 106 pitches across seven scoreless innings during his last outing against the Yankees on June 7. The 25-year-old has put up a 2.50 ERA and 1.11 WHIP alongside a 22:5 K:BB across 18 innings over his last three starts. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 4:38 pm
