• Suffers first loss Wednesday
Wesneski (2-1) allowed three runs on seven hits across six innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Padres. He walked one and struck out three.

Advice: Wesneski pitched well enough, logging his second straight quality start in the process, but he got no run support in the 3-0 loss. The righty now has a strong 1.59 ERA overall, though it remains to be seen if he'll stick in the rotation moving forward. Justin Steele (hamstring) just returned from the injured list Monday, and Kyle Hendricks (back) could return in the near future, possibly as soon as May 17 following a rehab start over the weekend. For now, Wesneski is slated to start again Tuesday against Atlanta, but he may shift to a long-relief role after that. Rotowire.com 6 minutes ago

  • Gets back in win column
Singer (3-1) earned the win Wednesday against Milwaukee, allowing one run on five hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Singer tallied his first win in five starts, yielding one run for a third consecutive outing. He settled in nicely after allowing doubles to the first two batters he faced, keeping the Brewers off the scoreboard following the first frame. Singer has allowed more than two runs in just one start this season and owns a 2.36 ERA with 46 strikeouts across 45.2 innings. He's lined up for a start in Seattle on Monday. • Michael Kopech closes out Rays to earn third save
Michael Kopech picked up his third save of the season on Wednesday night, working a scoreless ninth inning to protect a three-run lead against the Rays.

Advice: Despite the fact that he allowed a one-out single to Harold Ramirez, Kopech still made it look easy — battling right back to get Isaac Paredes to bounce into a game-ending double play. He needed just 10 pitches (seven strikes) to get the job done. Save chances have been few and far between for the White Sox this season, but Kopech has done a nice job overall with a 3.93 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and a 25/10 K/BB ratio across his 18 1/3 innings while converting three of his first four save chances. • Chris Flexen strikes out eight in win over Rays
Chris Flexen delivered a dominant performance in Wednesday’s victory over the Rays, racking up eight strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball.

Advice: The 29-year-old right-hander scattered just three hits and one walk on the evening. The only blemish on his day came in the form of an RBI double by Isaac Paredes in the fourth inning. Flexen generated 12 swings and misses on 96 pitches in the ballgame — five on his fastball — while posting a CSW of 30 percent. He now holds a 4.29 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and a 25/13 K/BB ratio over 35 2/3 innings in eight appearances (six starts) on the season. He’s likely to take on the Nationals his next time out on Monday. • Aaron Civale bounced in fifth inning of loss
Aaron Civale was dealt his third loss of the season on Wednesday, giving up two runs on five hits over his 4 2/3 innings of work.

Advice: The 28-year-old right-hander struck out four batters on the night while issuing a pair of walks. All of the damage done against him came on one swing of the bat by Paul DeJong in his final inning of work. Civale got nine swings and misses on 82 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 28 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a disappointing 5.88 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 43/12 K/BB ratio (41 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Red Sox in Boston. Rotoworld 13 minutes ago

  • Sale dominates former team Wednesday
Chris Sale was utterly dominant with six shutout innings and 10 strikeouts and picked up the win in the 5-0 victory over the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Sale lowered his ERA on the season to 2.95 with the excellent outing. He certainly showed the Red Sox what they’re missing after trading him last offseason. The win was Sale’s fifth in seven starts this season. His 52 strikeouts are in the top 10 among qualified starting pitchers. Sale is set to take on the Chicago Cubs at home next week. • Pivetta rocked in return from elbow injury
Nick Pivetta allowed five earned runs in four innings in his first start back from an elbow injury and took the loss against the Braves on Wednesday.

Advice: Pivetta wasn’t particularly sharp in his return to the mound as he allowed seven hits including three home runs and only recorded one strikeout. He gets a bit of a pass given the circumstances and tough matchup against the Braves on the road. Pivetta only threw 58 pitches, which is a potential concern for his next start. He’s set to face the Tampa Bay Rays in Boston next week. Rotoworld 24 minutes ago

  • Carlos Rodón strikes out seven in win over Astros
Carlos Rodón allowed two runs with seven strikeouts across 6 1/3 innings in a win over the Astros on Wednesday.

Advice: Rodón served up a solo homer to Kyle Tucker in the first inning. He settled in nicely, tossing five more scoreless frames. Rodón went back out for the seventh gave up a run on two hits before his day was done with one out in the frame. He struck out seven on an impressive 16 whiffs. It was a nice bounceback effort for the 31-year-old left-hander. He’ll take a 3.56 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 43/14 K/BB ratio across 43 innings into a start against the Twins in Minnesota on Tuesday. • Spencer Arrighetti surrenders five runs in loss
Spencer Arrighetti allowed five runs with four strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Yankees on Wednesday.

Advice: The Yankees got to Arrighetti early, with Juan Soto taking him deep for a two-run homer in the first inning. Soto brought one more across with a single in the second. Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton added a pair of solo homers in the third. Arrighetti hung in there for two more scoreless frames, ending his day after five. The 24-year-old right-hander has had a rough go so far this season, posting an 8.44 ERA, 2.02 WHIP, and a 25/13 K/BB ratio across 21 1/3 innings. He’s currently lined up for a start against the A’s in Houston next week. Rotoworld 34 minutes ago
