    • Coming off injured list Friday
Pham (ankle) will be activated from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game in Arizona, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Advice: Pham played in three rehab games in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League this week, going 3-for-11 with a home run. He's been out for most of this month with a sprained left ankle. Pham had been seeing most of his starts in center field for the White Sox prior to getting hurt, but with Luis Robert now back from the injured list, Pham should shift over to right field. • Jacob Young goes 0-for-3 in loss to Tigers
Jacob Young finished 0-for-3 against the Tigers on Thursday and is 2-for-23 in his last seven games.

Advice: Young did have two hard-hit balls today, which is notable considering that his 25% hard-hit rate is among the lowest in the majors. Power isn’t at all Young’s game, but it’s disturbing that his OBP has collapsed. He’s hit .217 and walked just three times in 99 plate appearances since May 10. Rotoworld Today, 1:28 pm

    • Randy Arozarena (hamstring) rejoins Rays lineup
Randy Arozarena (hamstring) is back in the lineup for Thursday’s game against the Cubs.

Advice: Arozarena is playing left field and batting second against the Cubs after being held out of the lineup for the last two games of the series due to right hamstring tightness. He was able to pinch-hit each of the last two nights and remained in to play left field last night. It doesn’t sound like a serious concern moving forward. Rotoworld Today, 12:54 pm

    • Returns to Tampa Bay lineup
Arozarena (hamstring) will start in left field and bat second in Thursday's game versus the Cubs.

Advice: Arozarena missed the previous two contests with right hamstring tightness but is feeling well enough to give it a go in this one. The 29-year-old will bring a disappointing .599 OPS into play Thursday. Rotowire.com Today, 12:19 pm

    • Twins bring up Austin Martin from Triple-A
Twins recalled INF/OF Austin Martin from Triple-A St. Paul.

Advice: He replaces Alex Kirilloff. Martin earned another look by hitting .290/.466/.387 with a 7/21 K/BB ratio in 88 plate appearances in Triple-A. Manuel Margot has gotten hot this month, so we’ll have to see just how much playing time Martin gets in the Twins’ outfield rotation. He’s also an option at second base, but he’s a weaker one than Willi Castro. During his earlier stints with the Twins, all 23 of his starts came in left or center. Rotoworld Today, 10:26 am

    • Nearly ready to take swings
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Thursday that Nootbaar (oblique) continues to take part in "rotational work" and could resume swinging a bat this weekend, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Advice: The Cardinals will presumably ease Nootbaar into swinging by having him hit off a tee or hit soft-toss throws before he eventually gains clearance to hit against higher-velocity pitching. In addition to being able to hit without discomfort, Nootbaar, who has been on the injured list since May 31 with a left oblique strain, will also need to prove that the injury doesn't compromise him when he runs the bases or plays the outfield. He still appears to be at least a couple weeks away from being a realistic option to rejoin the Cardinals, and Nootbaar will presumably need to go out on a minor-league rehab assignment prior to being activated. • Back with big club
The Twins recalled Martin from Triple-A St. Paul on Thursday, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Advice: He's switching spots with Alex Kirilloff, who has been optioned to St. Paul. Martin has slashed just .224/.289/.355 across 30 games at the big-league level this season. He could see some action versus lefties, but the 25-year-old's playing time is unlikely to be steady. Rotowire.com Today, 10:19 am

    • Homers off bench Wednesday
Cowser hit a two-run home run in his lone at-bat in Wednesday's 4-2 win over Atlanta.

Advice: Cowser entered the game as a defensive replacement for Ryan O'Hearn in the top of the eighth inning, and he was able to make some noise on offense with his go-ahead blast a half-inning later. The homer was Cowser's first since May 26 and just his second since the start of May, as his hot start to the year has faded. He's batting just .196 over his last 16 contests, though Cedric Mullins' struggles at the plate have allowed Cowser to maintain a decent share of playing time. The 24-year-old is slashing .234/.324/.436 with eight homers, four stolen bases, 29 RBI and 27 runs scored across 216 plate appearances. Rotowire.com Today, 10:09 am

    • Drawing start in series finale
Grisham will start in center field and bat ninth in Thursday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Grisham's streak of five straight starts in the outfield came to an end Tuesday, but he'll re-enter the lineup Thursday following back-to-back absences while Giancarlo Stanton receives a day off. Now that Juan Soto is back in action after recently missing time with a forearm injury, Grisham should serve as the Yankees' fourth outfielder in most games. Rotowire.com Today, 9:51 am
