    • Slade Cecconi gives up six runs in bulk role
After taking over for opener Joe Mantiply, Slade Cecconi gave up six runs in five innings Monday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Advice: Mantiply did his part in the first and Cecconi kept it going with a scoreless second, but he went on to five up three homers in the third inning. It was impressive how Cecconi rebounded with three scoreless innings afterwards, but the damage was done. Cecconi is now 1-4 with a 6.12 ERA, and his rotation spot appears to be in jeopardy. • Goes four innings Monday
Detmers allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out three over four innings in a no-decision versus the Astros.

Advice: Detmers' run of poor pitching continued. Five of the six runs came on home runs by Jose Altuve and Mauricio Dubon. Detmers has allowed at least four runs in each of his last six starts, and this was the fourth time in that span he's surrendered multiple homers. The southpaw has an ugly 5.80 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 59:19 K:BB through 54.1 innings across 10 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Guardians. • Fired seven innings
Wacha (4-4) allowed two runs on six hits and a walk over seven innings Monday, striking out three and earning a win over Detroit.

Advice: Wacha kept the Tigers off the board until Kerry Carpenter took him deep with a solo shot in the fourth inning. Colt Keith later added an RBI double in the seventh. Wacha has turned in three straight quality starts and earned a win in each one. Before this hot streak, he went 0-4 with a 7.01 ERA over a five-start span. The veteran righty is sporting a 4.45 ERA with a 47:18 K:BB through 56.2 frames. Wacha's next start is expected to be in Tampa Bay this weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 8:27 pm

    • Reid Detmers tagged for six runs by Astros
Reid Detmers surrendered six runs in four innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Astros.

Advice: Victimized by a couple of infield singles, Detmers was unfortunate not to be out of the inning before José Altuve hit a three-run homer in the second. Still, this was another disappointing outing for the 24-year-old, who has given up 32 earned runs over 31 2/3 innings in his last six starts. We still believe in Detmers as a useful mixed-league option, what with his 59/19 K/BB ratio in 54 1/3 innings this season, but he certainly doesn’t make it easy. Rotoworld Today, 8:24 pm

    • Gets hit hard Monday
Wentz allowed five runs on five hits out of the bullpen while not retiring a single batter in Monday's 8-3 loss to the Royals.

Advice: Wentz had his first true disaster outing of the season, which included allowing his first home run of the year to Salvador Perez. The lefty came into the game with a stellar 1.08 ERA but departed with that figure up to 3.78. One bad appearance doesn't undo nearly two months of solid play, though after Wentz struggled mightily in 2023, it was fair to expect some regression after his great start to the season. • Wacha picks up fourth win Monday
Michael Wacha allowed two runs in seven innings and picked up the win in the Royals’ 8-3 victory over the Tigers on Monday.

Advice: The win was Wacha’s fourth of the season. He allowed six hits, a walk, and struck out three. The Tigers only runs against Wacha came on a Kerry Carpenter solo home run in the fourth inning and a Colt Keith RBI double in the seventh inning. Wacha’s ERA is now 4.45 on the season. So far he’s rewarded fantasy managers that picked him up for his two-start week. The 32-year-old right-hander is scheduled to face the Rays on the road this weekend.

    • Fans eight in no-decision
Weathers did not factor into the decision Monday against Milwaukee, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks over seven innings. He struck out eight.

Advice: Weathers generated 14 whiffs en route to his eight strikeouts, reaching that mark for the first time since punching out 10 on April 16 against San Francisco. The Miami lefty has thrown four consecutive quality starts, posting a 2.67 ERA, 0.70 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB over 27 innings during that time. Weathers is currently slated to make his next start against Arizona on the road this weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 7:15 pm

    • Likely headed for IL
Ross (back) is expected to require a stint on the 15-day injured list, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Advice: Ross was forced from Monday's start after his back tightened up, and he was later diagnosed with a low back strain. The club will likely wait to see how he responds Tuesday morning before making an official roster move. Milwaukee is already thin when it comes to starting pitching, so the team will once again be forced to turn to their farm system for help. Aaron Ashby and Tobias Myers are candidates to fill in if it's confirmed Ross requires a trip to the IL. Rotowire.com Today, 7:04 pm

    • Ryan Weathers strikes out eight in no-decision
Ryan Weathers struck out eight and was charged with two runs (one earned) over seven innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Brewers.

Advice: Weathers generated 14 swinging strikes, including seven on his changeup alone, and finished with a robust 34 percent CSW. The 24-year-old lefty has pitched extremely well this season, allowing three earned runs or fewer in nine of his 10 starts. His eight punchouts were the most since a 10-strikeout performance back on April 16. He’ll bring a solid 3.49 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 46/19 K/BB ratio across 56 2/3 innings (10 starts) into a road tilt on Sunday against the Diamondbacks. Rotoworld Today, 7:02 pm
