  • Expected to join Toronto
    Horwitz is expected to join the Blue Jays in Oakland on Friday prior to the beginning of their series versus the Athletics, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

    Advice: He will presumably be added to the roster, although it's unclear what the corresponding transaction will be. Horwitz has been on fire of late at Triple-A Buffalo, going 16-for-36 with a pair of home runs. He's also played mostly second base over that stretch, and that could be a path to playing time for him with the big club if the Jays would prefer to use Davis Schneider more in left field.     Vargas went 1-for-4 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and a run in Thursday's 11-7 victory versus Pittsburgh.

    Advice: Vargas started in left field and batted eighth in the order. He hit safely in his fourth straight game with a fourth-inning double and also stole a base and scored after reaching on a fielder's choice in the fifth. Vargas has held his own with a .250/.318/.550 slash line, one homer, three doubles, three RBI, five runs and a steal over 22 plate appearances this season. He's currently on the short side of a platoon with Jason Heyward -- Vargas has started each of Los Angeles' past three games against a left-handed starter while sitting out the team's past four contests against a right-hander.     Advice: Tampa Bay designated Harold Ramirez for assignment to make room for Walls, who has been on the injured list all season as he recovered from offseason hip surgery.     The Rays activated Walls (hip) from the 60-day injured list Friday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

    Advice: Walls has been out all season following offseason hip surgery and had to be shut down for a while at one point due to inflammation in the hip. However, he recently got back up to speed in a five-game rehab stint with Triple-A Durham, going 8-for-21 at the plate.     The Phillies acquired Kennedy from the Tigers on Friday in exchange for cash considerations and optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

    Advice: The official transactions log on MLB.com had listed Kennedy as having been outrighted by the Tigers after clearing waivers, but that was erroneous and has since been deleted. Instead, he's headed to Lehigh Valley, where he will give the Phillies some infield depth. Kennedy has slashed .205/.294/.316 in 46 games over parts of three seasons in the majors.
