• Records second win
Doval (2-0) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out one over a scoreless inning to earn the win Friday over the Pirates.

Advice: Doval walked the tightrope in the top of the ninth inning Friday, loading the bases with one out before inducing a double play to escape the jam while keeping the game scoreless. Patrick Bailey then delivered a walk-off three-run home run to give Doval and the Giants the win. Doval has kept runs off the board in seven of his nine appearances this season, earning four saves with a 3.12 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB over 8.2 innings. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago
  • Feels good following live BP
After throwing a 50-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Pivetta (elbow) noted that he was able to throw all his pitches and was happy with his outing, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Advice: Pivetta continues to make progress in his rehab from a right elbow flexor strain that landed him on the 15-day IL on April 9. Following his latest throwing session, Pivetta will meet with team doctors and the front office to figure out his next steps, which could include a rehab assignment in the coming week. Before landing on the IL, Pivetta went 1-1 over two starts, allowing one run on eight hits while striking out 13 over 11 frames. Rotowire.com 21 minutes ago

  • Designated for assignment
The Marlins designated Tyler for assignment Saturday.

Advice: A week after being selected from Triple-A Jacksonville, Tyler will now lose his spot on Miami's 40-man roster. He made one appearance during his brief time in the majors, allowing one earned run in two innings during Friday's loss to Washington. Kent Emanuel was selected from Jacksonville in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 54 minutes ago

  • Marlins add Kent Emanuel to relief mix Saturday
Marlins selected the contract of LHP Kent Emanuel from Triple-A Jacksonville.

Advice: Emanuel is back for another stint with the Marlins after one relief appearance earlier this month in his first big-league outing since 2021. The 31-year-old southpaw provides Miami’s bullpen with a fresh arm for the rest of this weekend’s series against the Nationals. Rotoworld 57 minutes ago

  • Selected from Triple-A
The Marlins selected Emanuel's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday.

Advice: Emanuel appeared in one game for the Marlins in early April, allowing four earned runs across three innings out of the bullpen. He's been much more successful since being sent down to the minors, and he'll now get another chance to stick around in Miami as a multi-inning reliever. Kyle Tyler was designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Rotowire.com 58 minutes ago

  • Marlins designate Kyle Tyler for assignment
Marlins designated RHP Kyle Tyler for assignment.

Advice: Tyler figures to draw some interest on waivers after pitching well on Friday night in his Marlins debut, allowing on run over two innings in relief against the Nationals. The 27-year-old righty will presumably stick around with Miami as extra relief depth, if he winds up clearing waivers. Rotoworld 59 minutes ago

  • Nick Pivetta (elbow) targeting early May return
Nick Pivetta (elbow) faced hitters on Saturday in a live batting practice session.

Advice: The tentative plan is for Pivetta to make a minor league rehab start later next week before returning to Boston’s starting rotation the following week to take the ball during a brief two-game set against the Braves. The 31-year-old righty has been on the shelf since early April due to a mild right elbow strain. Rotoworld Today, 8:39 am

  • MRI comes back clean on Pete Fairbanks’ arm
An MRI on Pete Fairbanks’ right arm came back clean for any structural damage.

Advice: Fairbanks landed on the injured list earlier this week with an undisclosed nerve-related condition, so it’s at least an encouraging development that additional imaging didn’t turn up any structural damage. The 30-year-old righty has indicated that his latest issue is unrelated to previous flareups of Raynaud’s syndrome that he’s dealt with. Given the uncertainty surrounding his diagnosis, there isn’t a clear timetable for his return. Rotoworld Today, 8:14 am

  • Scheduled for back-to-back outings
Gibault (forearm) is scheduled to throw back-to-back games next week, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Advice: After experiencing renewed discomfort in his forearm, Gibault had a rehab assignment paused April 16 before returning to pitch Wednesday and again Friday. Next up are the back-to-back outings scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Presumably, that would be the right-handed reliever's final hurdle before activation. Rotowire.com Today, 7:41 am
