The 30-year-old is now slashing .291/.404/.465 over the first month of the season; a vast improvement on the offensive numbers he was posting with Seattle and Milwaukee over the last two years.     Advice: Brash is headed to Dallas to receive an opinion from Dr. Keith Meister on his injured elbow. It sounds like the setback is a significant one, with Mariners general manager Justin Hollander saying the team is "concerned."   • Edward Cabrera struggles late in loss to Nationals
    Edward Cabrera was charged for six runs — five earned — in 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Nationals on Saturday.

    Advice: Cabrera was pitching well over the first four frames, but the fifth was a disaster that saw him give up a grand slam to Jesse Winker.     Sears (1-2) took the loss Saturday as the A's were dropped 7-0 by the Orioles, surrendering seven runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out eight.

    Advice: The lefty looked great the first time through the order, retiring the first nine batters he faced, but Baltimore jumped on Sears for three runs in the fourth inning and back-to-back solo shots by Adley Rutschman and Ryan Mountcastle in the fifth, before Gunnar Henderson chased him from the game in the seventh with a two-run blast. Sears did set a new season high in strikeouts and generated 33 called or swinging strikes among his 98 pitches, but he was made to pay when he missed his spots in the strike zone. He'll carry a 4.64 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 24:11 K:BB through 33 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Marlins. Rotowire.com 13 minutes ago

    Advice: It’s disappointing that Parker wasn’t able to go deeper in this one, as the southpaw was given plenty of run support and would have easily qualified for the win. It was another effective outing for the 24-year-old, however, and he’s now registered an ERA of 1.69 since being promoted to the Washington rotation. He’ll face Texas on Thursday.     Mariners’ right-hander Matt Brash (elbow) has been shut down from throwing again and will visit Dr. Keith Meister.

    Advice: Uh oh. Brash had been making progress in his recovery from inflammation in his elbow, but he attempted to play catch on Friday and told the training staff that every throw felt terrible. You don’t want to jump to any conclusions, but it sounds like surgery could be in the cards for the 25-year-old hurler in the near future.     Advice: López came off the bench and hit a two-run homer in the ninth inning off Tanner Rainey. It had nothing to do with the outcome of the game — the Nationals were leading 11-2 at the time — but it counts just the same. López remains fantasy irrelevant in his utility-infield role.     Advice: The Diamondbacks aren’t calling it a major setback for the right-hander, but they will slow down his rehab a bit to make sure not to push him. It initially looked as though Sewald could join the Diamondbacks’ bullpen in the coming days, but now it looks like Kevin Ginkel may be working the ninth inning for another week or so.
