• Not starting Sunday
Baez is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Royals.

Advice: Baez started the previous seven games but will sit Sunday after he posted a .641 OPS during that stretch. Zach McKinstry will step in at shortstop for the series finale versus Kansas City. Rotowire.com 10 minutes ago

  • Sit again versus righty
Allen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles.

Advice: For the second time in three games, Allen will hit the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Albert Suarez) while Darell Hernaiz checks in for him at shortstop. Allen is the more established big-league player of the two shortstops, but given that he posted a lowly .550 OPS over 329 plate appearances in 2023 and is off to an even worse start in 2024 (.490 OPS In 73 plate appearances), the Athletics could be motivated to give the rookie Hernaiz an extended look at the position. • Javier Baez scratched from lineup Sunday vs. KC
Javier Báez was scratched from the lineup Sunday against the Royals.

Advice: Báez was scheduled to hit eighth and play shortstop in the original lineup, but the shortstop will not start Sunday’s game for reasons that haven’t been disclosed yet. Zach McKinstry will start at shortstop in Báez’s place and hit sixth. Rotoworld 51 minutes ago

  • Swats second homer
Seager went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 8-4 loss to the Reds.

Advice: Seager, who was not in the original starting lineup for Saturday's game, was a late addition. The home run was his second of the season. Seager's off to a slow start, slashing .247/.336/.330 over 110 plate appearances, which is disappointing for fantasy managers who expected more from the player that finished second in AL MVP voting last season. However, it's understandable when considering Seager underwent offseason hernia surgery and missed all but the final week of spring training. Rotowire.com Today, 7:03 am
  • Doubles, scores in loss
Alexander went 1-for-2 with a walk, double and run scored in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Seattle.

Advice: Alexander walked with two outs in the eighth inning and came around to score Arizona's lone run on Jake McCarthy's triple. The rookie shortstop has hit safely in six of the last seven contests, going 9-for-24 with six extra-base hits, nine RBI and four runs. Alexander's bat has played well, but defense could cost him opportunities. He ranks last among shortstops with minus-7 outs above average and minus-5 runs prevented. Rotowire.com Today, 6:14 am
  • Breaks out of slump
Farmer went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's victory over the Angels.

Advice: Farmer finally broke out of a terrible slump as he was hitting .100 (5-for-50) with a .390 OPS in his first 21 games. Farmer is splitting playing time at third base with Jose Miranda with Royce Lewis and Carlos Correa injured. Farmer will likely move to more of a bench role when Correa returns in the next few days with Willi Castro likely to get the most playing time at third base. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:35 pm

  • Trea Turner picks up three hits in win over Padres
Trea Turner went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored in a victory Saturday over the Padres.

Advice: Turner scored on a pair of hits from Alec Bohm, the first being a two-run homer in the first and the next being an RBI single in the fifth. The 30-year-old has been outstanding over the first 28 games, with his slash of .345/.397/.483 a vast improvement over his scuffles to begin the 2023 campaign. Rotoworld Yesterday, 10:22 pm

  • Swipes first bag
Lopez went 1-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base Saturday against the Rays.

Advice: Lopez has at least one hit in six straight starts, and even as the White Sox's primary leadoff hitter, that's translated to only three runs scored. He also managed his first successful stolen base of the season after having been caught on four previous occasions. Through 85 plate appearances, Lopez has offered very little at the dish by maintaining a .219 batting average and by tallying only one extra-base hit. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:22 pm

  • Logs fourth steal
Mateo went 0-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored in Saturday's 7-0 win over the Athletics.

Advice: Mateo has seen limited playing time this season, though he could get more looks after Jackson Holliday was sent down to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday. Through 35 plate appearances, Mateo is slashing .250/.314/.406 with four steals, one RBI, five runs scored and five doubles. He's unlikely to take a full-time role from Jordan Westburg, Ramon Urias or Cedric Mullins, but Mateo offers utility value and speed while playing primarily versus left-handed pitchers.
