    • Snaps slump, logs steal
Steer went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Rangers.

Advice: Steer snapped an 0-for-18 skid in the third inning then stole his sixth base in 26 games and is on pace to surpass the 15 steals he had in 2023. That's the good fantasy news. On the other side, that hitless run came at the tail end of a 5-for-40 (.125) stretch with no extra-base hits and one RBI over 11 games. Rotowire.com Today, 6:58 am

    • Swipes two bags
De La Cruz went 0-for-2 with two walks, stole two bases and scored a run in Cincinnati's loss to Texas on Friday.

Advice: Despite not being able to tally a base hit during Friday's game, De La Cruz was able to make his presence felt by drawing a walk in the first inning and eventually stealing home to score Cincinnati's first and only run of the game. He walked again and stole second base in the fifth inning, giving him an MLB-best 17 thefts on the season. Along with his exceptional baserunning, the 22-year-old infielder has been outstanding at the plate, slashing .299/.419/.621 with seven homers and 18 RBI through his first 105 plate appearances. • Expected back Saturday
Lowe (oblique) is expected to be activated from the injured list Saturday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Advice: Lowe has been on a rehab assignment for roughly a week, but he was with the big-league club in Chicago on Friday. He's projected to be activated Saturday to make his season debut and will almost certainly occupy a prominent spot in a struggling Rays' lineup. It will also be notable where Lowe plays defensively, as he started three games in center field during his rehab assignment. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:55 pm

    • Rough night vs. LA
Bassitt (2-4) took the loss Friday against the Dodgers, allowing seven runs on nine hits and three walks over 2.2 innings. He struck out four.

Advice: Bassitt allowed a solo home run to Shohei Ohtani in the first inning before imploding in the third, when he allowed another six runs on six hits including a Max Muncy three-run homer. It's been a rocky start to the year for the 35-year-old Bassitt -- his ERA is up to 5.64 with a 1.85 WHIP and 30:17 K:BB across six starts (30.1 innings). He'll look to right the ship in his next outing, currently slated for next week against Kansas City. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:06 pm
    • Chris Bassitt tagged for seven runs by Dodgers
Chris Bassitt was lit up for seven runs in 2 2/3 innings by the Dodgers on Friday.

Advice: Bassitt had no luck at all tonight. He gave up hits on nine of 12 balls in play, even though just five were hard-hit. The two homers he allowed were hit 360 and 366 feet, with the former being a homer in just 11 of 30 ballparks. Bassitt’s ERA jumped from 3.90 to 5.66. If it makes anyone feel better, he finished April at 5.18 last year and then came in at 3.29 the rest of the way. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:56 pm
    • Josh Lowe (oblique) nearing return to Rays
Josh Lowe (oblique) told reporters on Friday that his rehab is going great and that he feels that he’s ready to be activated from the injured list as soon as the Rays decide to do so.

Advice: The dynamic 26-year-old outfielder has played in six games during his minor league rehab assignment at Triple-A Durham, hitting .227/.346/.364 with a homer, five RBI and a 10/4 K/BB ratio over 26 plate appearances. It sounds like he could be back with the big league club any day now. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:53 pm

    • On bench versus lefty
Kelenic is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Guardians.

Advice: Lefty Logan Allen is pitching for Cleveland, so Kelenic will unsurprisingly start Friday's contest on the bench. Adam Duvall will receive another look in left field while batting ninth. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 12:13 pm

    • Throws bullpen session
Darvish (neck) threw a bullpen session Wednesday, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Darvish's bullpen session marked his first time throwing off a mound since he landed on the 15-day injured list April 17 with neck tightness. Padres manager Mike Shildt indicated that Darvish wasn't throwing with full effort, saying the right-hander "was on the gas, but didn't have it to the floor." Darvish will likely require at least one or two more bullpen sessions before progressing to facing hitters and then perhaps heading out on a rehab assignment. There's no clear timeline yet for his return to San Diego's rotation. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 6:57 am

    • Zack Wheeler stymies Reds in win
Zack Wheeler threw six shutout innings in a 5-0 win over the Reds, allowing just one hit while striking out eight.

Advice: Wheeler did walk four batters on the day but he also posted an impressive 36 percent whiff rate and 33 percent CSW. He beat the Reds with heat today, getting the most whiffs on both his four-seamer and sinker, and got only a 17 percent chase rate. Basically, he came at the Reds in the zone and they weren’t able to handle it on Thursday. The effort lowered his season ERA to 1.93 and he’ll look to keep it going in a much easier matchup against the Angels next time out. Rotoworld Thursday, 2:17 pm
