    • Pete Alonso blasts eighth homer in loss to Cardinals
Pete Alonso went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in a 7-4 win over the Cardinals on Saturday.

Advice: Alonso cut the Cardinals lead to two runs with a two-run blast off Sonny Gray in the fifth inning. It was the eighth homer of the season for the 29-year-old slugger. He’s slashing .252/325/.515 with 14 RBI across 114 plate appearances. Rotoworld 28 minutes ago

    • Won't start Saturday
Melendez is not in the Royals' starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

Advice: Melendez has gone 0-for-12 over his last four starts, reaching base once on a walk over that span. Dairon Blanco will start in left field and bat eighth against Tigers right-hander Casey Mize. Rotowire.com Today, 2:14 pm

    • Set to rejoin rotation
Manager Brandon Hyde said Saturday that Bradish (elbow) is poised to return to the Orioles' rotation, Steve Melewski of MASNSports.com reports.

Advice: Bradish's return can't come soon enough for an Orioles rotation also missing John Means (forearm) and Tyler Wells (elbow). Bradish made three rehab starts while recovering from a right UCL sprain that landed him on the 15-day injured list to begin the season. He pitched well in his last rehab outing with Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out six over five frames, and the 27-year-old is ready to make his next start in the majors. He pitched every fifth day during his rehab assignment, so if he stays on that schedule, he could return Wednesday at home against the Yankees. The right-hander could rejoin Baltimore as part of a six-man rotation, with Hyde noting that "everything is up on the table right now." Rotowire.com Today, 10:33 am

    • Hyde: Kyle Bradish to make ’24 debut next week
Kyle Bradish (elbow) will make his next start in the majors.

Advice: Orioles manager Brandon Hyde confirmed Saturday that Bradish will return to Baltimore’s starting rotation at some point next week, presumably on Thursday against the division-rival Yankees, after striking out six over five innings on Friday in his final minor league rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk. The 27-year-old righty has made a remarkably quick recovery from an offseason UCL sprain in his right elbow and should be rostered in all fantasy formats on the heels of last year’s breakthrough campaign. • D-backs optimistic Zac Gallen makes next start
Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo expressed optimism late Friday that Zac Gallen (hamstring) will make his next start.

Advice: Gallen was removed from Friday’s start against the Mariners in the sixth inning for precautionary reasons after experiencing right hamstring tightness. The 28-year-old righty has dealt with similar hamstring issues in the past, which is why Arizona didn’t want to take any chances. There should be some clarity on his status at some point in a few days when he throws his usual between-starts bullpen session, but for the moment, fantasy managers should plan on him taking the ball on Wednesday against the Dodgers at Chase Field. • MRI comes back clean on Pete Fairbanks’ arm
An MRI on Pete Fairbanks’ right arm came back clean for any structural damage.

Advice: Fairbanks landed on the injured list earlier this week with an undisclosed nerve-related condition, so it’s at least an encouraging development that additional imaging didn’t turn up any structural damage. The 30-year-old righty has indicated that his latest issue is unrelated to previous flareups of Raynaud’s syndrome that he’s dealt with. Given the uncertainty surrounding his diagnosis, there isn’t a clear timetable for his return. Rotoworld Today, 8:14 am

    • Tests come back clean
Fairbanks (arm) has no structural damage to his arm, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Fairbanks had an MRI done Tuesday and then had unspecified additional testing done later in the week. All exams came back clean, which is good news and provides some optimism that he'll avoid a lengthy absence. However, both Fairbanks and the team have cautioned that he does not have a timeline to be activated from the injured list. Rotowire.com Today, 7:29 am

    • Kyle Bradish strikes out six on Friday at Triple-A
Kyle Bradish (elbow) recorded six strikeouts and surrendered one run over five innings on Friday in a minor league rehab start for Triple-A Norfolk.

Advice: Bradish appears to be on the precipice of returning to Baltimore’s starting rotation after throwing 77 pitches (49 strikes) over five frames in his latest rehab outing. It’s worth noting that the fastball velocity hasn’t totally rebounded to last year’s levels, but he still managed to induce 13 swinging strikes and finished with a respectable 32 percent CSW in this one. The 27-year-old righty has made a lightning-quick recovery from an offseason UCL sprain in his right elbow and should be rostered in all fantasy formats on the heels of last year’s breakthrough campaign. • Homers in Friday's loss
Mullins went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning loss to the Athletics.

Advice: Mullins took Ross Stripling deep in the fourth inning to give the Orioles a 2-1 lead. Prior to Friday, Mullins had gone 0-for-11 with two walks and a stolen base over his last three games. The veteran outfielder is slashing .232/.286/.476 with six homers, 16 RBI, five steals, 16 runs scored and two doubles through 91 plate appearances. He continues to see the majority of the playing time in center field, though it's unclear if his spot is in any danger following the recent call-ups of Heston Kjerstad and Ryan McKenna. If Mullins struggles, he could cede some at-bats versus southpaws to players like McKenna or Jorge Mateo. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 11:55 pm
