    • Belts 10th homer
Schwarber went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Monday's loss to San Francisco.

Advice: Schwarber put the Phillies on the board in the third inning with a two-run shot off reigning NL Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell. It was his fourth homer against a lefty this season, and he's now batting a lofty .333 (27-for-71) against southpaw hurlers. Overall, Schwarber's .359 OBP this season is on pace for the second-highest mark of his career. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 9:51 pm

    • Schwarber has home run, steal against Giants Monday
Kyle Schwarber went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and a two-run home run against the Giants on Monday.

Advice: The home run was Schwarber’s 10th of the season and the stolen base was his third. He’s been heating up lately as he’s 10-for-25 (.385) over his last seven games. The home run was Schwarber’s first since May 6th. His power has been down this season, but he’s been known to hit home runs in bunches. Maybe this could be the start of a hot streak for Schwarber.

    • Fans six in victory
Irvin (5-2) picked up the win in Monday's 11-3 victory over Boston, scattering four hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out six and did not allow a run.

Advice: The 30-year-old southpaw was sharp, not allowing an extra-base hit and matching his season best with six strikeouts. The three walks were uncharacteristic for Irvin, who allowed just one free pass over his previous 24.1 innings pitched. After allowing nine earned runs over his first two starts of the season, Irvin has yielded just seven earned runs over his past eight starts, good for a 1.55 ERA in that span. He will look to keep it rolling in his next start, currently scheduled for this weekend in Tampa. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 2:06 pm

    • Cole Irvin tosses five frames to beat Red Sox
Cole Irvin spun five shutout innings on Monday in a win over the Red Sox.

Advice: Irvin was staked to an early lead and was able to cruise to a relatively easy victory, limiting Boston’s lineup to just four hits over five frames of work. He struck out six and also handed out a trio of free passes. The 30-year-old lefty still isn’t missing a ton of bats, but he’s been effective in his last couple outings following a rocky start to the year. He’ll remain in Baltimore’s starting rotation mix with both John Means (forearm) and Dean Kremer (triceps) on the shelf. He’ll bring a strong 2.84 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 36/11 K/BB ratio across 50 2/3 innings (10 appearances, eight starts) into a home outing on Sunday against the strikeout-prone Rays. • Locked in to start Monday
Irvin will start Monday's game against the Red Sox in Baltimore, Danielle Allentuck of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

Advice: As expected, Irvin will draw back into the rotation as a replacement for John Means (forearm), who was placed on the 15-day injured list Thursday. Though he made his last two appearances in relief, Irvin shouldn't be in line for any major workload restrictions Monday after he covered 3.1 innings out of the bullpen last Wednesday against the Cardinals. Over his prior seven starts with Baltimore this season, Irvin went 4-1 with a 2.90 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB in 40.1 innings. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 7:25 am

    • Working way out of slump
Bregman went 2-for-4 with a walk Sunday against the Athletics.

Advice: Bregman has slumped for significant periods of the season and Sunday's performance was his first multi-hit game in his last eight starts. He's been unlucky to the tune of a .217 BABIP across 216 plate appearances on the campaign, though Bregman's struggles to make consistent quality contact make him susceptible to these results. • Return date uncertain
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Muncy is still feeling his oblique strain and will proceed cautiously, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

Advice: Roberts had previously indicated that Muncy could start a rehab assignment soon with a potential return to the Dodgers coming next week, though he backed off on that statement Friday. The third baseman began doing some work in the field Tuesday, but Roberts indicated that Muncy won't progress to hitting off a tee until the team feels he's fully recovered. With that in mind, it seems unlikely that Muncy will be ready to return to the big club until at least early June. Rotowire.com Sunday, 8:40 pm

    • No decision yet on rehab start
The Rangers have yet to decide whether Eovaldi (groin) will require a minor-league rehab assignment before being activated from the 15-day injured list, MLB.com reports.

Advice: Eovaldi has been on the shelf since May 3 with a strained right groin. Though Eovaldi didn't return from the IL in the minimum 15 days like manager Bruce Bochy had initially suggested could be the case, the veteran right-hander might be able to avoid a rehab assignment prior to being activated. He traveled with the Rangers this weekend and threw a bullpen session Friday at Target Field, and he'll presumably be reassessed when the team returns to Arlington ahead of its two-game home series versus the Diamondbacks that begins Tuesday. • Cole Irvin confirmed to start Monday vs. Red Sox
Cole Irvin will start Monday’s game against the Red Sox.

Advice: Irvin will be taking the rotation spot of John Means after Means was placed on the injured list. Irvin was mostly effective in his rotation efforts earlier in the year, and he has a 3.15 ERA and 30/8 K/BB over his 45 2/3 innings thus far in 2024. Because of his inability to miss bats, he’s a risky streaming option whenever he takes the mound. Rotoworld Sunday, 9:49 am
