    • Brady Singer struggles in loss to Mariners
Brady Singer was charged for four runs over five innings while picking up a loss Monday to the Mariners.

Advice: Singer was in constant trouble Monday, as he allowed nine hits with one walks against six strikeouts. He gave up a long homer to Luke Raley in the second, and two more runs were surrendered by the right-hander in the third. Singer has been solid for the overwhelming majority of 2024, but this wasn’t his night. A good chance to rebound comes Sunday against the Athletics, assuming the rotation order doesn’t change. • Fans seven in win
Keller (4-3) allowed eight hits over six shutout frames Monday, striking out seven and earning a win over Milwaukee.

Advice: Keller faced traffic on the bases throughout the night but was able to dance around danger and keep the Brewers scoreless. He forced 13 whiffs -- his second-best total so far this season -- and threw 71 of 100 pitches for strikes. Of those 13, seven came via the fastball, which averaged 95.2 mph. Keller has seemingly turned a corner after a shaky opening month; he's allowed just one run while posting a 12:1 K:BB over 15 frames in his last two starts. Keller will carry a 3.93 ERA into his next start, which is lined up to be on the road against the Cubs this weekend. Rotowire.com Today, 8:09 pm

    • Keller picks up fourth win Monday
Mitch Keller tossed six shutout innings, recorded seven strikeouts and picked up the win in the Pirates’ 8-6 victory over the Brewers on Monday.

Advice: The win was Keller’s fourth of the season. He allowed eight hits, but walked none in the outing. Keller lowered his ERA to 3.93 on the season. The 28-year-old right-hander is set to face the Cubs in Chicago this weekend.

    • Cristopher Sánchez gives up three runs vs. Mets
Cristopher Sánchez allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Mets.

Advice: Sánchez finished with five strikeouts and also issued three walks. It’s fairly impressive that he was able to get into the middle innings of this one after the Mets got to him for three runs over the first two frames. The 27-year-old lefty will bring a serviceable 3.43 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 39/18 K/BB ratio across 42 innings (eight starts) into a home matchup on Saturday against the Nationals. • Corbin Burnes hurls six frames in no-decision
Corbin Burnes allowed one run over six innings on Monday in a no-decision against the Blue Jays.

Advice: Burnes notched only two strikeouts and also issued a pair of walks. He generated only seven swinging strikes and finished with a pedestrian 29 percent CSW. It was his lowest single-start strikeout total of his Orioles debut, but he extended his streak of allowing three earned runs or fewer to an impressive nine consecutive outings. He’ll bring a sparkling 2.68 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 49/14 K/BB ratio across 53 2/3 innings (nine starts) into a home matchup on Sunday against the Mariners. Rotoworld Today, 7:07 pm

    • Continues to receive little support
Burnes did not factor into the decision Monday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out two.

Advice: Burnes did not allow an extra-base hit as a walk and two singles in the sixth led to the lone run he allowed. The two strikeouts are the fewest Burnes has recorded in a start during his career and represent the eighth consecutive start in which he's recorded six or fewer K's after opening the season with an 11-strikeout effort. While he's not been as dominant in Baltimore as he was in Milwaukee, Burnes has still been plenty effective, allowing three or fewer runs in every start this season. His next outing is tentatively slated to take place this weekend when the Blue Jays come to Camden Yards for a three-game set. Rotowire.com Today, 6:34 pm

    • A’s place Paul Blackburn on IL with a foot injury
Athletics placed Paul Blackburn (foot) on 10-day IL retroactive to May 11th.

Advice: Blackburn has a stress reaction in the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. The 30-year-old has a 4.11 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in eight starts while registering 36 strikeouts and 13 walks in 46 innings. There’s no set timeline yet for how long he’ll be out, but his right foot handles all his body weight during his leg lift on his windup, so he’ll need to make sure it’s fully healed before he returns to the mound. The team recalled LHP Easton Lucas from Triple-A Las Vegas to take Blackburn’s place on the active roster. Rotoworld Today, 12:13 pm

    • Lands on IL with foot injury
The Athletics placed Blackburn on the 15-day injured list Monday with a stress reaction of the fifth metatarsal of his right foot.

Advice: He'll be in a walking boot for at least two weeks, per Martin Gallegos of MLB.com, so Blackburn is set tio require more than a minimum-length stay on the IL. Blackburn had been in line to start Thursday in Houston but will now need to be replaced in the rotation, with recent Triple-A Las Vegas call-up Joey Estes making sense as an alternative. • Working through mechanical issues
Senga (shoulder) won't face hitters again until he works through some mechanical issues, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Advice: The right-hander threw 32 pitches in a live bullpen session last weekend, but he apparently wasn't satisfied with how it went. Senga will take a step back in his throwing program and go back to more controlled bullpen sessions without hitters involved until he's sure he won't be developing any bad habits as he progresses in his rehab from a shoulder strain. While the caution is smart in the long run, the hiccup will almost certainly ensure that Senga won't be ready to join the Mets rotation when he's first eligible to come off the 60-day injured list in late May.
