Bednar gives up homer, earns 14th save vs. Cards
David Bednar allowed one earned run while picking up the save in Tuesday’s win over the Cardinals.
Advice: Bednar earned his 14th save on the season in this one, but it didn’t come easy. After giving up a leadoff homer to Nolan Gorman to kick off the ninth, Bednar would later walk José Fermin with two outs before a catcher’s interference put Iván Herrera on base. Bednar would strike out Michael Siani to end the game, but it was yet another rough outing for Bednar, who is sporting a 5.40 ERA on the year. He’s hard to trust in fantasy, but Bednar will continue to earn save opportunities in a Pirates bullpen that has underwhelmed in 2024.
