      Kikuchi allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings in a no-decision against Houston on Wednesday.

      Advice: Kikuchi gave up just one run through five frames before serving up a solo shot to Yordan Alvarez in the sixth. The southpaw got two more outs in the inning but was pulled one out shy of a quality start following a Jeremy Pena double. Despite that disappointment, this was a positive outing for Kikuchi after he had given up 13 runs across 11 frames over his final three starts of June. The hurler has fallen off after a strong start to the campaign -- across his past eight appearances, he has just one quality start while registering a 6.50 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 37:10 K:BB across 36 innings.       Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Rangers.

      Advice: Cronenworth notched his first multi-hit effort since June 21 and his first steal since May 6 with a strong performance Wednesday. The infielder hit .250 with eight extra-base hits and 15 RBI over 27 contests in June. For the year, he's at a .260/.325/.437 slash line, 12 home runs, two steals, 53 RBI and 45 runs scored across 85 games. He's played fairly well, but he may slip out of an everyday role once Xander Bogaerts (shoulder) returns from the injured list later in July. Bogaerts had played primarily at second base prior to his injury, though Cronenworth or Luis Arraez could ultimately share first base and designated hitter to keep both of their bats in the lineup.       Advice: Kimbrel was summoned to close out the game with a three-run lead in the ninth. He made quick work of the Mariners, striking out two batters in a perfect inning on 18 pitches.       Colin Rea tossed seven scoreless innings with four strikeouts in a win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

      Advice: Rea made his most impressive start of the season on Wednesday, holding the Rockies scoreless in Colorado across seven frames. He scattered six hits and struck out four batters with no walks, tossing 67-of-97 pitches for strikes. The 34-year-old right-hander will take a 3.34 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and a 66/28 K/BB ratio across 94 1/3 innings into a start against the Pirates in Milwaukee on Tuesday.       Michael Wacha allowed just one run across six frames on Wednesday in the Royals’ 4-2 win over the Rays. He struck out eight, walked three, and gave up just three hits en route to a victory.

      Advice: The eight punchouts matched a season-high for Wacha. He’s gone eight straight starts allowing two or fewer earned runs with a stint on the injured list in-between.       Shota Imanaga struck out eight and yielded three runs over six innings on Wednesday in a no-decision against the Phillies.

      Advice: Imanaga was cruising along early before giving up a solo homer to Phillies backstop Rafael Marchán in the third inning and a two-run blast to All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm in his final frame of work. He generated 13 swinging strikes and finished with a 28 percent CSW. He’ll carry a sparkling 3.16 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 92/15 K/BB ratio across 91 innings (16 starts) into a tough road tilt against the Orioles on Tuesday in his penultimate outing prior to the All-Star break.       Advice: Kikuchi was cruising right along until the sixth inning when Yordan Alvarez smacked a lead-off homer and Jeremy Peña’s two-out double forced him from the game. Those who play in quality start leagues will surely be frustrated, but Kikuchi still had a solid start.       Anthony Volpe smacked a two-run double on Wednesday in the Yankees’ loss to the Reds.

      Advice: Volpe got New York on the scoreboard in the seventh inning with a two-run double off Cincinnati starter Andrew Abbott. It wasn’t all positive for the young shortstop as he grounded into a key double play in the ninth inning to squash any hope of a Yankees rally against Reds stopper Alexis Díaz.
