  • Brandon Marsh leaves game Sunday with leg injury
    Brandon Marsh was removed from Sunday night’s battle against the Cardinals in the eighth inning due to an apparent leg injury.

    Advice: Marsh rounded second base and wanted to turn on the jets to go to third, but pulled up lame and had to hobble back into second base. It’s unclear if it was a hamstring or some sort of knee issue, though he was able to walk off the field under his own power. He’ll head for further evaluation.   • Henry Davis set to rejoin Pirates on Tuesday
    Corey Crisan of DK Pittsburgh Sports reports that the Pirates plan to recall Henry Davis from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

    Advice: Since being optioned out to Triple-A Indianapolis on May 3, Davis has hit .296 with seven homers and 17 RBI. The Pirates believe that he can breathe some life into a struggling offense, though it’s unclear how much action he’ll see behind the plate versus in the outfield.   • Returning to big leagues
    Davis is expected to be called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday, Corey Crisan of DK Pittsburgh Sports reports.

    Advice: Davis was sent down May 3 after a disappointing start to the season with the Pirates, but he's slashed .282 with seven home runs, 17 RBI, 18 runs scored and a stolen base over 22 contests at Triple-A. He opened the season as Pittsburgh's primary option at catcher and he'll likely split time with Yasmani Grandal at backstop once back in the big leagues.     Perez went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored Sunday against the Red Sox.

    Advice: Perez matched a season high with three hits, plating a run with his seventh-inning double, later scoring the go-ahead run in the 10th. He had entered the game in a 3-for-28 skid over his last seven starts prior to his outburst Sunday. The 24-year-old rookie outfielder has now accumulated 14 extra-base hits including six doubles, five triples and three homers while driving in 15, scoring 22 and swiping four bags over 152 plate appearances.   • Not ready for rehab assignment
    Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Thomas (hamstring) isn't on track to begin a minor-league rehab assignment during the upcoming week, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

    Advice: Though Lovullo noted that Thomas is trending in the right direction in his recovery from a left hamstring strain, the center fielder isn't yet at a point in his rehab regimen where he's ready for game action. Thomas has been on the 10-day injured list since April 1 with the hamstring issue, so he'll likely need to play in at least a handful of rehab games at some point down the road before Arizona activates him.     Heliot Ramos went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBI on Sunday, but it wasn’t enough to lead the Giants to victory over the Yankees.

    Advice: Ramos clubbed a 405-foot (108.2 mph EV) solo shot off of Nestor Cortes in the third inning that gave the Giants a 2-1 lead. He then delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the sixth inning that put the Giants on top 5-3. The 24-year-old outfielder struck out in each of his other three at-bats on the night.   • Luke Raley homers again as Mariners defeat Angels
    Luke Raley homered for the second consecutive day on Sunday, powering the Mariners to a 5-1 victory over the Angels in Seattle.

    Advice: Raley opened the scoring in this one with his 354-foot (110.8 mph EV) solo shot off of Griffin Canning in the fourth inning. The 29-year-old outfielder was also plunked twice in the ballgame — once with the bases loaded to drive in a run in the eighth inning. He then came around to score on Mitch Garver’s three-run double.     Advice: Raley opened the scoring with a solo shot in the fourth inning and added his second RBI in the eighth when he was plunked with the bases loaded. Prior to a one-game absence with a lat issue, he went 1-for-19, but he's gone 3-for-9 with two homers, a double and three RBI over his last three contests.   • Nelson Velázquez delivers clutch game-tying hit
    Nelson Velázquez had a pinch-hit two-RBI triple to tie the game in the ninth inning in a 4-3 win over the Padres on Sunday.

    Advice: Velázquez didn’t start the game, but he was brought on to face left-hander Yuki Matsui in the ninth inning and drilled a 109 mph triple off the center field wall to tie the game. It was a ball that could have left the yard in 18 of 30 MLB stadiums and continued Velázquez’s trend of only getting hits in big situations. In his last 11 games, Velázquez has gone 8-for-43 but five of those hits have been home runs and two others have driven in runs.
