    Advice: Newman has five multi-hit efforts over his last nine games, going 15-for-31 (.484) in that span. The shortstop still isn't hitting for a lot of power, but he's been able to make decent contact. For the season, he has a .276/.311/.439 slash line with two home runs, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored, a stolen base, eight doubles and a triple over 103 plate appearances.     Hernandez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks.

    Advice: Hernandez has homered twice in his last six games, though both have been solo shots as well as his only RBI in that span. The utility man is slashing just .216/.287/.320 with three homers, eight RBI, seven runs scored and no stolen bases over 108 plate appearances this season. Hernandez has started five straight games at third base since Max Muncy (oblique) exited the lineup, so it appears Hernandez has a path to steady playing time for now.     Dubon went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and two additional runs scored in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Angels.

    Advice: Dubon's hits continue to come in bunches. He's logged three or more hits in three of his last 10 games, but he has just one other hit in that span. The homer was his second of the year and briefly put the Astros ahead 6-1 in the fourth inning before the Angels' comeback rally in the fifth. Dubon is slashing .301/.321/.427 with 19 RBI, 13 runs scored, one stolen base and seven doubles across 37 contests this season. His splits are not too far apart this season, but the Astros are soon to be at full health among their hitters, so there's unlikely to be consistent playing time for the right-handed Dubon against same-handed pitching.     Rengifo went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases in Monday's 9-7 win over the Astros.

    Advice: Rengifo has gone 4-for-18 with three steals, one RBI and two extra-base hits over four contests since he returned from an illness. The infielder is slashing .312/.364/.450 with two home runs, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored and 12 thefts through 32 games this season.     Massey went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and two runs scored in Monday's win over Detroit.

    Advice: Massey set the tone for the 8-3 win with a solo shot in the second inning. He later doubled and scored in the sixth. Massey has gone 8-for-14 (.571) with four extra-base hits over his last four games.     Luis Rengifo had two hits and two steals against the Astros on Monday.

    Advice: The second steal saw him jam his left hand into second base, leaving him with an injured middle finger in spite of the oven mitt he was wearing.   • Tallies three hits Monday
    Keith went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's 8-3 loss to the Royals.

    Advice: While Keith is batting just .214 overall, he's been better in May with a .350 batting average across 14 games. It's a promising development for the rookie, who batted .306 across two levels in the minors last season. It can take young players some time to translate minor-league production into MLB success, but it seems like Keith is starting to turn the corner, and he has the talent to finish his debut campaign on a high note.   • Massey has three-hit game Monday
    Michael Massey went 3-for-4 with a double, a solo home run and two runs scored against the Tigers on Monday.



    Advice: Massey started the scoring with a home run in the bottom of the second and later doubled, but his most impactful hit of the night was likely his 101 mph line drive single that hit Tigers starter Reese Olson in the hip and knocked him out of the game. The home run was Massey’s fifth of the year. He’s off to a really nice start as he’s hitting .284 with an .805 OPS and has 19 RBI in 27 games this season.

    X-rays on Ortiz's right foot came back negative following Monday's game against Miami, Paige Leckie of MLB.com reports.
