    Advice: Newman has five multi-hit efforts over his last nine games, going 15-for-31 (.484) in that span. The shortstop still isn't hitting for a lot of power, but he's been able to make decent contact. For the season, he has a .276/.311/.439 slash line with two home runs, 11 RBI, 13 runs scored, a stolen base, eight doubles and a triple over 103 plate appearances.     Advice: Hernandez has homered twice in his last six games, though both have been solo shots as well as his only RBI in that span. The utility man is slashing just .216/.287/.320 with three homers, eight RBI, seven runs scored and no stolen bases over 108 plate appearances this season. Hernandez has started five straight games at third base since Max Muncy (oblique) exited the lineup, so it appears Hernandez has a path to steady playing time for now.     Advice: Rengifo has gone 4-for-18 with three steals, one RBI and two extra-base hits over four contests since he returned from an illness. The infielder is slashing .312/.364/.450 with two home runs, 12 RBI, 15 runs scored and 12 thefts through 32 games this season.   • Luis Rengifo swipes two bags against Astros
    Luis Rengifo had two hits and two steals against the Astros on Monday.

    Advice: The second steal saw him jam his left hand into second base, leaving him with an injured middle finger in spite of the oven mitt he was wearing.     Keith went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in Monday's 8-3 loss to the Royals.

    Advice: While Keith is batting just .214 overall, he's been better in May with a .350 batting average across 14 games. It's a promising development for the rookie, who batted .306 across two levels in the minors last season. It can take young players some time to translate minor-league production into MLB success, but it seems like Keith is starting to turn the corner, and he has the talent to finish his debut campaign on a high note.     Ortiz is getting X-rays on his right foot after being hit by a pitch in the fourth inning Monday against the Marlins, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

    Advice: Ortiz was able to finish out the game, but it was still bothering him in the clubhouse after the loss, and skipper Pat Murphy noted that the injury may be more serious than initially thought, per Paige Leckie of MLB.com. Andruw Monasterio put together a multi-hit evening and could be in line for more looks at the hot corner if Ortiz requires a trip to the injured list.
