    Devin Williams (back) is scheduled to throw another bullpen session on Saturday.

    Advice: The 29-year-old hurler felt great after his first bullpen session, so he’ll continue to ramp up as long as he’s feeling good. He’s also tentatively scheduled to throw his first live batting practice on July 9, assuming that he doesn’t suffer any setbacks along the way.   • Another bullpen coming
    Williams threw 20 pitches during a bullpen session Wednesday and is scheduled for another 20-pitch session over the weekend, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

    Advice: Williams utilized his full arsenal during Wednesday's session and is on track to throw off the mound again this weekend.     Hicks did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits, two walks and a hit batsman against the Cubs. He struck out seven.

    Advice: Hicks' outing was marred by a rough third inning in which he hit a batter, allowed two steals and gave up a homer and triple among three hits during the three-run frame. Otherwise, Hicks faced just two batters over the minimum during the other four innings, recording at least seven strikeouts for the fourth time this season.   • Jordan Hicks strikes out seven, allows three vs. Cubs
    Jordan Hicks gave up three runs in five innings while striking out seven against the Cubs on Thursday, but he didn’t factor into the decision.

    Advice: All three runs were given up in the third, as he gave up a two-run homer to Nico Hoerner and an RBI triple to Seiya Suzuki. The right-hander was strong outside of that frame while showing off his swing-and-miss stuff.   • Could be back sooner than expected
    Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said Wednesday that Williams (back) could return from the 60-day injured list sooner than his initial mid-to-late-July recovery timeline, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

    Advice: Williams was scheduled for a bullpen session Wednesday, which would have marked his first time throwing off a mound since being shut down during spring training with multiple stress fractures in his back. He will need to throw off the bump multiple times and eventually go out on a rehab assignment before being activated.     Megill earned a save against Texas on Monday, striking out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning.

    Advice: Megill hit a batter with two outs in his inning of work, but it didn't cost him any runs. The right-hander was able to notch his 10th straight successful save conversion -- he hasn't blown an opportunity since May 20. Megill has proven to be a more-than-adequate fill-in for rehabbing closer Devin Williams (back), as he's tied for eighth in MLB with 16 saves (in 17 opportunities) while posting a 1.85 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 30:7 K:BB through 24.1 innings.     Trevor Megill was perfect in the ninth in earning his 16th save Monday against the Rangers.

    Fairbanks earned his 12th save of the season Monday against Seattle, striking out two batters in a perfect ninth inning.

    Advice: Fairbanks picked up his second save in as many days, totaling three strikeouts while not allowing a single baserunner.   • Pete Fairbanks silences M’s to net 12th save
    Pete Fairbanks struck out two in a perfect ninth inning on Monday against the Mariners to record his 12th save of the season.

    Advice: Fairbanks got the call to protect a one-run lead in the final frame after Tampa Bay erased a one-run deficit in the eighth inning and needed just 10 pitches (nine strikes) to slam the door. It was his second straight perfect outing after an ugly blown save last week against the Twins.
