• Megill picks up 13th save against Reds Sunday
Trevor Megill pitched a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Reds on Sunday.

Advice: Megill’s save was his 13th of the year filling in for Devin Williams. In the ninth inning, with two men on and two outs, Megill gave up a single to Santiago Espinal on a line drive to center. However, outfielder Blake Perkins threw out Stuart Fairchild at home to end the game. It ended up being a scoreless inning for Megill, who lowered his ERA to 2.14 on the season. • Pete Fairbanks locked down Braves for save
Pete Fairbanks struck out two and walked one en route to his 10th save of the season on Sunday.

Advice: Fairbanks has been solid since returning from the IL last month with six saves in as many chances. It’s worth keeping an eye on his walk rate though as it’s inched up over 12%, the highest mark of his career. Rotoworld Today, 1:27 pm
  • Trevor Megill snags 12th save
Trevor Megill closed out a 3-1 win over the Reds for his 12th save of the season.

Advice: It wasn’t a flawless inning for Megill, who did allow a walk, a hit, and a run; however, he got the job done. He now has a 2.25 ERA on the season and has been a steadying presence for the Brewers at the end of games. Even though he will lose his job as closer when Devin Williams returns, he’ll remain a valuable reliever for the Brewers and needs to simply be held in fantasy leagues because you’re unlikely to get much trying to trade him away when everybody knows his time accruing saves is coming to a close within the month. • Secures save Saturday
Megill notched a save against the Reds on Saturday, allowing one run on one hit and one walk in one inning.

Advice: A trio of Milwaukee pitchers combined to shut out Cincinnati over eight innings before the ball was handed to Megill for the ninth. The right-hander didn't make things easy, issuing a walk and allowing a run-scoring double before getting his first out, but he was ultimately able to slam the door for the save. Megill has been great in his first venture as a closer this season, going 12-for-13 in save tries while posting a 2.25 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 25:6 K:BB over 20 innings. He appears to have a firm grasp on ninth-inning duties for the Brewers, at least until Devin Williams (back) is able to return from the injured list, potentially in the latter half of July. • Devin Williams (back) nearing mound work
Brewers’ manager Pat Murphy told reporters on Saturday that Devin Williams (back) remains on track to return after the All-Star break.

Advice: Murphy also noted that the 29-year-old hurler is expected to get on a mound soon as he continues his recovery from a pair of stress fractures in his back. While Trevor Megill has been outstanding in his stead, Williams is one of the premiere closers in all of baseball and should jump right back into the Brewers’ ninth inning role as soon as he’s healthy enough to do so. • Expected to throw off mound soon
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Saturday that Williams (back) is expected to be cleared to throw off a mound soon, Jack Stern of Brewer Fanatic reports.

Advice: Murphy also added that Williams remains on track to return just after the All-Star break, although that would seem to be a tentative timetable given that the reliever has yet to resume throwing off a mound. Williams is working his way back from multiple stress fractures in his back. Trevor Megill has operated as the Brewers' primary closer with Williams on the shelf. Rotowire.com Yesterday, 10:52 am

  • Earns ninth save
Fairbanks earned a save against the Cubs on Thursday, allowing one walk in a scoreless ninth inning.

Advice: Entering with a 3-2 lead in the ninth inning, Fairbanks walked Michael Busch with one out but induced a game-ending double play to secure the save. Since returning from an arm injury in mid-May, Fairbanks is 6-for-6 in save chances and has not allowed an earned run in 14 innings of work. On the season, he is 9-for-10 in save opportunities with a 3.00 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 23:11 K:BB in 21 innings. Rotowire.com Thursday, 6:56 pm
  • Fairbanks picks up save against Cubs Thursday
Pete Fairbanks tossed a scoreless ninth inning and picked up the save against the Cubs on Thursday.

Advice: The save was Fairbanks’ ninth of the season. He walked Michael Busch with one out before getting Nico Hoerner to ground into a double play to end the game. Fairbanks has now converted on six consecutive save opportunities. The last time he blew a save chance was April 17th. His ERA is now 3.00 on the season. Fairbanks already has four saves in June. • Efficient in win
Soriano (4-5) allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over eight-plus innings to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.

Advice: This was the longest outing of Soriano's career, and it was a good one. He had plenty of run support early and pitched into the ninth inning, ending the start with 97 pitches (63 strikes). He's quickly becoming one of the Angels' most reliable starters, having covered at least six innings in five straight appearances. He's at a 3.48 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 60:28 K:BB through 72.1 innings over 14 appearances (12 starts) this year. The 25-year-old's strikeout numbers have taken a hit from where they were last year when he was a reliever, but there's still value in a pitcher that can eat innings. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Brewers. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 10:12 pm
