    Gavin Stone tossed a complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts in a win over the White Sox on Wednesday.

    Advice: Stone made perhaps his best start of his career Wednesday against the White Sox, going a career-high nine scoreless innings for his first complete-game shutout. He scattered four hits and did not walk a batter, tossing 73-of-103 pitches for strikes with seven strikeouts. The 25-year-old right-hander has been outstanding on the season, posting a 2.73 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and a 70/25 K/BB ratio across 89 innings.     Joey Ortiz was removed from Wednesday’s game against the Rangers due to a neck issue.

    Advice: Brewers’ skipper Pat Murphy said after the game that Ortiz has been battling the neck injury for a while now, and that it didn’t occur when he ran into the tarp while chasing a foul ball on Wednesday.     Cal Raleigh clobbered a three-run homer on Wednesday, leading the Mariners to a 5-2 victory over the Rays.

    Advice: Raleigh put Seattle ahead for good in a low-scoring series finale at Tropicana Field by walloping a gargantuan 422-foot dinger to right field off Rays reliever Shawn Armstrong in the sixth inning. It was his lone hit of the contest, but he also drew a pair of walks as well. The 27-year-old backstop remains a liability in the batting average department, but he’s up to 14 big flies already and is on pace for his second consecutive 30-homer campaign.   • George Kirby flummoxes Rays over six frames in win
    George Kirby struck out seven and allowed one run over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Rays.

    Advice: Kirby coughed up an early run-scoring single to Yandy Díaz, but managed to keep Tampa Bay’s lineup quiet from the third inning onwards to net his seventh win of the season. He induced 13 swinging strikes, including six on his four-seam fastball, and finished with a pedestrian 28 percent CSW. Of course, he also didn’t hand out a free pass in this one. It wasn’t his most dominant effort of the season, but was more than enough to lead Seattle to a much-needed win. The 26-year-old righty has allowed two earned runs or fewer in six consecutive starts dating back to May 29. He’ll carry a strong 3.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 96/9 K/BB ratio across 99 1/3 innings (17 starts) into a tough come outing on Wednesday against the Orioles. Rotoworld Today, 1:21 pm

    Ortiz was removed from Wednesday's game versus the Rangers in the bottom of the sixth inning with an apparent injury, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. He went hitless in two at-bats before leaving the game.

    Advice: Ortiz ran into the tarp while chasing after a pop-up in the top of the sixth, and though he initially stayed in the game, he was lifted in favor of a pinch hitter in the bottom of the frame.
