Garcia served as the designated hitter and went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Phillies.

Advice: Garcia made a second consecutive start at DH after missing two games with a right forearm injury. It's unclear when he will resume his work in a defensive role, but as long as his bat works, that shouldn't matter much. The home run was the team-leading 12th for Garcia, who also leads the Rangers with 36 RBI. Rotowire.com 44 minutes ago

    • Varsho blasts ninth home run Thursday
Daulton Varsho went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run against the Tigers on Thursday.

Advice: Varsho came to the plate in a tie game in the seventh inning and hit a two-run home run off Tigers starter Jack Flaherty that put the Blue Jays ahead for good. Varsho is hitting just .213 this year, but he has five stolen bases to go with nine home runs and 27 RBI. Rotoworld Yesterday, 6:30 pm

    • Michael Busch goes 0-for-4 in loss to Braves
Michael Busch went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts on Thursday in the Cubs’ shutout loss at the hands of the Braves.

Advice: Busch is really struggling at the moment, batting .183 (17-for-93) with just one home run over his last 30 games. He’s gone especially frigid at the dish, hitting just .071 (1-for-14) over his past seven contests. The league seems to have made its adjustment to the 26-year-old top prospect and now it’s time for him to strike back. It wouldn’t be shocking to see him get a break in the coming days as a bit of a mental reset. Rotoworld Yesterday, 2:52 pm

    • Falls to Yankees
Castillo (4-6) took the loss Thursday against the Yankees, allowing two runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.

Advice: Castillo dealt with traffic for most of his outing, he'd ultimately hold New York to a pair of solo home runs. The loss snapped a stretch of seven straight quality starts for Castillo -- he'd posted a 2.01 ERA in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 3.31 this season with a 1.21 WHIP and 69:18 K:BB over 65.1 innings. Castillo's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Astros in his next start. • Adolis Garcia hits solo homer in loss to Phillies
Adolis Garcia hit a solo homer in a loss to the Phillies on Thursday.

Advice: Garcia took Zack Wheeler deep in the second inning. The 31-year-old slugger has gone deep a dozen times thus far in 2024 while driving in 36 runs over Texas’s first 51 games. He also drew a walk, and he’s now slashing .253/.300/.500. Garcia is a flawed player, but the power-production is going to make him relevant for a long time. Rotoworld Yesterday, 1:20 pm

    • Luis Castillo allows two over five in defeat
Luis Castillo went five innings while surrendering two runs in a loss to the Yankees on Thursday.

Advice: Castillo allowed seven hits with three walks, and he struck out three. There was significant traffic throughout the outing, but the right-hander’s only runs allowed came on solo homers by Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. This makes back-to-back starts where Castillo hasn’t had his best stuff, but he was able to battle to hold powerful lineups in the Yankees and Orioles in check. He’s scheduled to face Houston on Tuesday. Rotoworld Yesterday, 12:21 pm
    • Rare multi-hit effort Wednesday
Gelof went 2-for-5 with a game-tying RBI single in an extra-innings loss to the Rockies on Wednesday.

Advice: After knotting the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the ninth with his timely knock, Gelof also drove in Shea Langeliers during the 12th but didn't get credited with an RBI since it was a double-play groundout. Nevertheless, Gelof did extend his on-base streak to four games with his multi-hit effort, his first since April 21. Despite the recent modest success, Gelof's slash line sits at a paltry .192/.260/.308 across 132 plate appearances, with a strikeout rate that's shot up from a rookie figure of 27.3 percent to 34.1 percent partly to blame for his struggles. • Finds trouble in fifth inning
Pepiot allowed three runs on two hits, four walks and a hit batsman while striking out three over four-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Red Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: Pepiot returned from a lower left leg contusion that sent him to the injured list. He was cruising through the first four innings, but he put three straight batters on base to begin the fifth. Richard Lovelady couldn't slow down the Boston offense, leaving Pepiot to settle for a no-decision. The 26-year-old right-hander threw just 37 of 66 pitches for strikes in his return from injury. Pepiot now has a 3.98 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 44:15 K:BB over 40.2 innings across eight starts. It's unclear if his limited workload came from a pitch count or just the natural flow of the game. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Athletics. Rotowire.com Wednesday, 7:27 pm

    • Daulton Varsho triples, scores twice vs. White Sox
Daulton Varsho went 1-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored, two RBI, and two walks against the White Sox on Wednesday.

Advice: After drawing a walk in the first inning, Varsho brought two runs in to score on a triple in the second. After walking once again in the fourth, he crossed home plate on a base hit by Bo Bichette. The 27-year-old outfielder is slashing .212/.304/.444 with eight homers, 28 runs scored, 25 RBI, and five steals across 171 plate appearances. Rotoworld Wednesday, 7:15 pm
