    • Daulton Varsho (back) will not play on Sunday
Blue Jays’ manager John Schneider told reporters after Saturday’s game that Daulton Varsho has been dealing with some tightness in his lower back and will be held out of the team’s starting lineup on Sunday.

Advice: The 27-year-old played the entire game on Saturday but reported to his manager afterwards that his back had tightened up on him. It doesn’t sound like anything that should lead to any sort of extended absence and there’s even a possibility that Varsho could be available to pinch-hit off the bench on Sunday. He should be considered day-to-day. Rotoworld Today, 4:18 pm

    • Has back soreness, off Sunday
Varsho experienced back tightness late in Saturday's game against the Guardians and will be given the day off for Sunday's series finale, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.

Advice: Varsho grounded out in the ninth inning but never made it out of the batters box, immediately grabbing at his lower back after making contact. Though the injury doesn't seem of much concern, Varsho will be held out of Sunday's contest. Varsho went 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Saturday's 6-3 loss. Rotowire.com Today, 4:06 pm

    • Harper blasts 18th home run, has four hits in win
Bryce Harper went 4-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI against the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Advice: Harper’s home run was his 18th of the year. He blasted a two-run shot into the second deck in right field off Arizona starter Tommy Henry in the third inning. Harper now has a seven-game hitting streak and three home runs in his last three games. He’s up to .294 with a .951 OPS and 51 RBI on the season. Rotoworld Today, 3:53 pm

    • Tyler Soderstrom hits solo homer in blowout loss
Tyler Soderstrom hit a solo homer in a blowout loss to the Twins on Saturday.

Advice: Even in a blowout loss, Soderstrom was able to impress as he has for the overwhelming majority of June. What was a slash of .182/.308/.318 coming into the month now sits at .250/.353/.480, and the blast was his sixth homer of the season. Soderstrom was a first-round pick for a reason, and he deserves some attention from those who need help at the corner-infield spot. Rotoworld Today, 3:43 pm

    • Lands on IL
The Diamondbacks placed Moreno on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a sprained left thumb, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Advice: Moreno's X-rays came back negative after he exited Friday's game due to his injured thumb, but the damage seems to still be severe enough to warrant keeping him out for the next 10 days. While he recovers, Tucker Barnhart will take over as Arizona's primary catcher and Jose Herrera will come up from Triple-A Reno to provide additional depth at catcher. • Diamondbacks put Gabriel Moreno (thumb) on IL
Diamondbacks placed C Gabriel Moreno on the 10-day injured list with a left thumb sprain.

Advice: Arizona has clearly opted not to take any chances here and will shut Moreno down for at least the next couple days after he was lifted from Friday’s game against the Phillies with a left thumb sprain. The 24-year-old backstop doesn’t appear to be facing a lengthy absence since X-rays came back negative for any fractures, but the Diamondbacks can’t really afford to play shorthanded at catcher. • Gabriel Moreno (thumb) not in Saturday’s lineup
Gabriel Moreno (thumb) is not in the lineup for Saturday’s game against the Phillies.

Advice: Moreno has had a down year this season, relative to fantasy managers’ lofty expectations, on the heels of a stellar postseason at the dish. However, it would be a significant loss for Arizona if he winds up requiring a trip to the injured list. The positive news here is that X-rays came back negative for any fractures after Moreno left Friday’s game against the Phillies with a left thumb sprain. He should be considered day-to-day for now. • Drives in three Friday
Soderstrom went 2-for-2 with an RBI single, a two-run double, a walk and a run in a win over the Twins on Friday.

Advice: Soderstrom's stellar night at the plate began with a first-inning RBI single that plated Abraham Toro (hamstring) and was followed up by his timely two-bagger in the fifth that drove home Miguel Andujar and Brent Rooker. The rookie has been on a tear at the plate since early June, producing a .314/.397/.588 slash line with six extra-base hits, 11 RBI and an acceptable 20.7 percent strikeout rate across the 58 plate appearances covering his last 15 games. • X-rays come back clean
X-rays came back negative on Moreno's thumb following Friday's game against the Phillies, Jody Jackson of Bally Sports Arizona reports.

Advice: Moreno hurt his thumb on a slide early in Friday's contest but remained in the game long enough to tally his third homer of the season. He was ultimately pulled in the sixth inning. Manager Torey Lovullo noted after the contest that Moreno is likely to avoid the injured list, but the team will see how he is feeling Saturday before any final determination is made.
