The southpaw allowed only one extra-base hit (a double) and didn't yield a run while he was in the game, as the only score charged to his ledger came after he departed with one out in the seventh inning. Through 17 starts, Abbott is up to eight wins, which is as many as he logged across 21 outings as a rookie last year.       Advice: Imanaga held his own versus a tough opponent, though he allowed home runs to Rafael Marchan and Alec Bohm. This was Imanaga's fourth quality start in his last five outings, the exception being a 10-run anomaly versus the Mets on June 21. The southpaw is now at a 3.16 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 92:15 K:BB through 91 innings over 16 starts this season.       Advice: Kremer was excellent in his first start off the injured list after missing over a month with a triceps issue.       Advice: Witt paced the Royals in this one and was the engine for their offense. His third inning double got them on the board and a key walk in the seventh set Salvador Perez up for his huge two-run single to put this game out of reach. Witt remains one of the most productive and dependable players in baseball with a .314/.366/.543 slash line to go along with 13 home runs and 22 stolen bases.       Ryan Pepiot labored through four innings on Wednesday against the Royals. He allowed four hits and three walks without striking out a batter in a no-decision.

      Advice: Pepiot could not place his fastball in this one. Too many were in the heart of the zone and so many more were way off the plate. Of the 43 pitches he threw, the Royals swung-and-missed at just one and took only four called strikes. That’s untenable for a pitch he threw 49% of the time.       Advice: Imanaga was cruising along early before giving up a solo homer to Phillies backstop Rafael Marchán in the third inning and a two-run blast to All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm in his final frame of work. He generated 13 swinging strikes and finished with a 28 percent CSW. He’ll carry a sparkling 3.16 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 92/15 K/BB ratio across 91 innings (16 starts) into a tough road tilt against the Orioles on Tuesday in his penultimate outing prior to the All-Star break.       Advice: Abbott finished with only two strikeouts, and also handed out four free passes, but managed to avoid any serious damage as a two-run double by Anthony Volpe in the seventh inning accounted for all of the damage against him in Yankee Stadium’s hitter-friendly environment.
